What happens here
This video provides a detailed guide on how to effectively unclog a bathroom sink drain using a plumber's force cup (plunger). It covers preparing the plunger for sink use, blocking the overflow hole, plunging with hot water to break up the clog, and performing a final flush to clear debris. The video also highlights an unusual hotel drain design that can contribute to frequent clogs.

(5,112 characters)hey folks that fixing guy here and i'm in a hotel bathroom right now my wife was just brushing the kids teeth and noticed that the bathroom sink just started filling up all right we did not want that they wanted us to move but if you've ever been in a hotel with kids you do not want to try to move rooms so i went downstairs i asked for a plunger and now it's time to come along let's get to fixing [Applause] all right as you can see this is a hotel plunger right this thing is a war horse i am sure that dude so we're gonna have to be very careful when touching this thing but you can see this right here is actually a force cup and a vacuum cup plunger so we need to push this bottom part in to make it a vacuum cup this is one of those two in one type plungers the lady also hooked me up with some gloves this was my own plunger i may not be using gloves but this is bad boy war horse you do not want to be messing around with a dirty old plunger that looks like this without putting any gloves on all right the reason why i have gloves is because for a sink drain you want to take this you want to actually push this in this turns it into a vacuum cup it allows you to try to pull stuff out i'm trying to pull something out of there i don't know because the holes how much we're going to pull out but we're going to try to pull something out another thing we got to do we got to block this hole right here so just go over here to the trusty kleenex bin we'll grab some kleenex get it wet and you just put that right there now what i want to do is i want to start running some hot water and you'll see it fills up pretty fast let's get this water nice and hot now get it on there just kind of up and down and give it a pop on the end yeah it's definitely got some stuff in there let's put some more water with commercial buildings especially hotels things like that they don't want to allow you to drop something down your sink so they put this style of pop-up right here well the thing with this because i deal with these all the time is that these tend to clog up because you got such little small holes going in there and bits of whatever just collect down there right i don't even know how much soap or toothpaste or anything go down these drains right all the time so let's see what that looks like now okay now okay so now let's let that drain i like to just hold the plunger over it and just let that water kind of going around that we want to get all this crap out of the sink right the least amount of this stuff you can put back in the better off it's going to be another little clean out tool that i have because i don't really have much with me right now this is draining a lot faster but let's just stick this down in there what is that whenever i was sticking a q-tip in there i was noticing that it didn't go very far and i noticed something down inside the drain pipe so now my interest is peaked okay so see what i'm talking about turns out like they got a piece of an old pop-up assembly in here or it's some weird finagled setup that i've never seen that actually doesn't work so i've never actually seen one of these grid strainers right here with a pop-up assembly inside of it you can see that right there i mean it doesn't work and i don't think it was supposed to be there but i really don't know i've never seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist last thing you want to do once you're all done and everything's draining good you want to come to your overflow hole you want to bring water through here okay you want to clear that out because you were plunging and you were sucking stuff out whenever you cover this hole you'll feel the suction so you're actually drawing stuff up in there too you want to get all this cleaned out you don't want to leave the gunk in there it'll smell funky it'll be nasty so easiest way to do that is just to fill your sink in my opinion let the water run and just go through here for a little while so when you're filling this all the way up through the overflow and letting this drain down the one other thing that it's gonna do for you is it's gonna let you know that your overflow works because if this is stopped up it's not gonna work and water is going everywhere okay so price is diverted now we don't have to worry about the sink filling up tomorrow morning when we brush our teeth and the lady downstairs she was super excited about me hooking this up really cool that she went and found me a plunger and i was so happy to help right it doesn't matter where i'm at what i'm doing i'm always going to try to help out in some way even if it is a hotel chain i really hope you guys enjoy the video if you could please subscribe to the channel click the like button we're just trying to help people out i hope we're doing that thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon how many plumbers out there have actually seen these commercial type grinch trainers with a pop-up assembly built in i've never seen that i feel like it's a wonky thing they put together to try to make work but i'm not 100 sure i know it doesn't work just wondering
