What happens here
Access the auger and bearing assembly within the salt spreader's hopper. This will likely involve unbolting retaining plates or access panels. Carefully disconnect any drive chains, belts, or electrical connections attached to the auger. Use appropriate wrenches and sockets to loosen and remove the bolts securing the bearing housing and auger shaft. Due to salt corrosion, these fasteners may be seized and require penetrating oil, an impact wrench, or even cutting tools for removal. The video shows a person working inside the spreader, actively replacing the auger, and the damaged auger is later seen on the floor, implying it has been removed. The damaged bearing housing is also shown separate from the new one.
Goal: Safely remove the corroded auger and damaged bearing from the spreader.
