what we're putting in right now is gonna be a better filter than this right you can see that the gaps are a little bit bigger in this one than they are in the new stp one we're gonna be installing hey folks that fix the guy here and today i'm gonna be changing on my engine air filter it's on my 2010 honda crv and we're going to be putting in this aftermarket stp air filter so come along let's get to fixing [Music] all right so first thing we got to do here pop that hood get down in there open it on up get it secure get your work area ready so in this honda crv there is where my air filter is we're gonna have to get down in this and today i'm gonna show you taking this piece right here off to get this hooked up so if you zoom down in here you can see there's going to be some clips there's a clip right here just start popping those off there's actually going to be four of them we come right up from there we go to right here here's another one that one's a bear to get off let's come over to this other side get down in here and right back there way back there way back there okay those clips are off so the next thing is i actually want to remove this because i want to be able to see down past the filter the way this works is the dirt and everything comes up from the bottom of the filter and i want to take a look and see if there's something underneath there as well if there is we'll vacuum it out but i definitely want to take a look you can you can actually take the filter out right now by just popping those tabs i could move this out far enough you can see the filter poking its head out there i could probably get it out that way but i don't want to right i actually want to remove this piece and i want to be able to see down in there physically look at it okay so with this we're going to actually undo this worm clamp right here and when we do this make sure that you line these two things back up i'll remind you in a minute but these two things need to be lined up there's a little line right here and then there's this little divot up top okay just get that just get this popped off of here it doesn't have to be taken off the whole way it just needs to be loosened then you can just take this and you can fold it back over here get it out of your way i don't know why i didn't put my gloves on before that i usually like to have gloves on that way i just don't get engine grease all over me it's a good idea it's good practice so now we'll pull this out right you can see this bad boy is dirty it is good definitely not the worst i've seen but it is pretty dirty right it's not as dirty as the one it like the the oil change place that they show you they're like oh this is what yours looks like no it's not all right you change this bad boy once a year as well your cabin filter this your engine filter they both can be changed once a year or about every 12 000 miles so then let's also just go ahead and take a look down in here and it actually looks pretty clean right it is not bad at all it doesn't need vacuumed out good to go there so now we can just grab our new air filter i don't know if this is uh no no this is definitely a different model but it all looks the same right i mean hey look if you take this let's just count them real quick let's count the pleats up because i'm gonna assume that both of these are after market maybe it's not maybe this is the original 20 on one side this actually has more pleats so i'm assuming that this is probably a better filter what we're putting in right now is gonna be a better filter than this right you can see that the gaps are a little bit bigger in this one than they are in the new stp one we're gonna be installing so that right there is pretty awesome so then we just pop this bad boy back in there it's that easy it's that easy just right like that and now before we bolt this down or we get anything hooked up there we just want to put this back in here remember what i was saying with that gap that line well so when you go to put this back in here it's not you can't mess this up right because if you can see right here there is a little notch right there and then there's a little notch up top here that lines up together you put that in there good to go that lines up there if you guys like the content please consider subscribing to the channel we're just trying to help people out and we love doing that really it's just fun and exciting and i'm hoping people are learning something all right okay so now when it comes to clipping this in what you're going to want to do is i'm personally i like to hold on to the top of this to get things started so the first clip is gonna be right back here just when you have that held down you're just able to grab this and hook it up and then we'll come over to the other side and come right down here and while still holding this pop that tab in place now i've got one in the back one on this side right so kind of catty corner i saved this bear over here for last because it is hard man for some reason i don't know if it's like that on everybody's but that particular one it's hard so then just come down to this one right here pop that on and now my my favorite my all-time favorite clip right here [Applause] man i just can't do it this is such a bear dude there we go clipped on ah i see i don't know why dude it just pops off i don't get it man i did not get it there we go no it is not every other one is staying clipped in and that one i can get it on and then it just pops off such a bummer well i guess that's what it is yeah everything else is right man it's in flush it's hooked up all right okay well now it's staying finally we'll see if it pops out and then that's it everything is put back in place everything's good it's all snug we're going to rock and roll but while you're under your hood right do yourself a favor and look at a couple things right check your battery out how does it look do you see any corrosion i see a light corrosion there look at your brake fluid right here right what's that looking like it's just under max it's not in the minimum a little bit over halfway looks pretty good so come over to this other side check your windshield washer fluid right these things are particularly a little weird they got a dipstick but it's actually setting up pretty good and then of course you can check your oil right it's looking a little used for sure and it's a bit low we're actually probably about a quart or so low this car definitely burns a little oil yeah we're a tad bit low we'll be adding some to that right it's good to check this stuff man when you're underneath your hood just have a quick look okay folks so that was changing out my old dirty air filter all right once a year every 12 000 miles or so this is a good idea swap this bad boy out that stp it actually had a few more pleats right not so many holes which means that it's actually a better filter now i'm sure there are better aftermarkets out there than even that but this worked it was right down the street i was able to pick it up and get it done fast i really hope you guys enjoyed the video if you could please subscribe to the channel click the like button we would greatly appreciate it we're just trying to help people out we hope we're doing that thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon all right when you're underneath your hood changing out your filter check your brake fluid check your washer fluid check your oil make sure that things look normal it's going to save you in the end
