What happens here

This project outlines a strategic approach for landscaping and excavation professionals to form beneficial alliances with their competitors. It demonstrates how sharing resources like equipment and excess dirt can lead to significant cost savings, improved efficiency, and stronger business relationships, advocating for a 'win-win' scenario over traditional cutthroat competition.

in today's video I'm going to show you how I work cooperatively with my competition and I literally put thousands of dollars in my pocket every single year and so do they and what we're going to focus on today is working with dirt but what I want you to think of is I want you to as you see how I work with other companies to get dirt find dirt um I want you to think outside the box I want you to think of ways that if you're a landscaper can you possibly work form an alliance with other companies and increase your purchasing power with a supplier maybe if eight nine or 10 of you got together and went to a material supplier and said hey the 10 of us agree to purchase materials from you will you give us the best deal around trust me I've done that too today's video doesn't cover that but it does cover something along those lines so as you're watching it start thinking how you can make this Supply and work for you and then at the end of this video when you're done watching it put in the comments any of your experiences what have you done how have you worked with your competition to improve your own business this is a huge thing that I think a lot of us are missing out on and if we just understood the impact of how working with hand inand with our competition can benefit each and every one of us it would change the way we think watch this and let me know what you guys think time to talk to you about a concept that I mentioned before but I'm going to drive it home real life world example work with your competition you see this excavator right behind me that's not mine that's JS Stewart if you look closely on the side of that that's JS Stewart's excavator but I met with him he handed me the keys to his excavator told me to go ahead and use that to load up all of the dirt that he has on this site I'm in this neighborhood working just a few miles down the road a way you work with your competition is you form Alliance as I recently interviewed a person for the landscape business pro and he talked he was a prestigious home builder just doing the same thing that we're doing behind us building these multi-million doll homes and what he did in his area is he got together with 10 other builders and formed a builder Alliance what we've done in the Twin Cities metropolitan area is we've formed an excavators Alliance there's about 36 of us that work together to help each other out this is a prime example because I'm working in this neighborhood because I need all of this dirt what you see behind me it's about 500 cubic yards of dirt that this excavator is sitting on and then behind the building back there is another you know the rest of it because I need that and he needs to get rid of it well guess how that works he's giving me this dirt he's giving me his excavator to use to go go ahead and load up my trucks so I can haul it away because when this long story short this guy Jim Stewart with JS Stewart is getting paid by the Builder to haul all this dirt off site if he can hand me the keys to the excavator and say go ahead and take it away and I bring my own trucks in and I haul that dirt off he's saving himself thousands of dollars on this one job site alone I'm saving thousands of dollars because now I'm not buying this dirt at a gravel pit 15 Mi down the road I'm getting it for free 1.8 miles down the road less than 2 miles away I'm saving time and money that's what happens when you form alliances and I want you to start to get your head wrapped around the idea working with your competition and not against them so let's go in here and let's see how this excavator runs I've actually been in it actually been loading my trucks with it watch me run into the side of this brand new house wouldn't that be something this is a cat it's like the guys are enjoying the radio I hate radio can't concentrate so what I'm doing with his excavator is I'm actually using it and sure nothing's behind me I don't like how they're loading dirt by the it it's already on $3.5 million home here we are at a $3.5 million home 1.5 just for the lot alone just gring up a little dirt all right so we got the truck coming in it's already on gra a shot there we go YouTube I'm going to [ __ ] with them here all right man oh man oh snap you good man you good straight back straight back oh man you just hit that dude buber oh keep coming keep coming back go live action little YouTube video commentary here I got stand the man stepped out from the office flipping and dipping them [Music] yeah yeah you can tell what car he drives yeah that Mustang the Mustang with the kit yeah cler all right there St he's telling us not to mess nothing up I'll make sure he doesn't do the same relax you want to shoot a little video St camp I get to do this onehanded you know how hard it is to load an excavator one-handed see now I got to switch hands scoop curl Bring It Up Lift Up switch hands actually it's kind of fun don't hit the truck don't hit the truck lift up and over down how are we doing put my hand up got switch hands this is way hard with one hand holy crap okay we got the truck loaded but we got to tighten up that load now so we want to make sure that we get that load flat topped you don't have to do this but how you straight up you flat top a load you don't have nearly as much problem going down the road with anything with anything uh you know bouncing out or anything like that so we just take a minute flat top the load it can't spill out it's just clean he'll go through the he'll go through this load with the stick on the side of the truck and make sure that that top rail is cleaned off too that's the top rail of the box as well so this is what we call Flat topping it it's just just a nice way of making it look very intentional like we're very organized and clean going down the road mostly for do purposes but you know what you don't get rocks blowing up you don't get anything else happening there you go that loot is is flat topped it's ready to work it's ready to go that's that load of dirt completely free because of the alliances connections we made serious am I and what do I do you see these guys I was just driving on the road that's how serious I am when it comes to introducing myself to my competition I've never met these guys before in my life and I'm going to videotape this let's see how this goes it looks like they got a job site just down the street from [Music] me introduce ourselves hey how you guys doing I'm staying I'm working just down the street from you guys do you I film everything so pay no actually say hi uh do you guys have any extra dirt you're trying to get rid of okay cuz if you do literally just on the Block you can haul it right to my sight save you guys a lot of trucking okay yeah it's there was a big hole your big sick hole so we actually got to fill it in with Rock and then top it on that so well it looks like you're making an even bigger hole down there what are you doing down there waterproofing no fixing the drain tile that was in here ah NOA Frost sight behind me and this is their skid loader just two days ago I was out here harvesting all of their soil that they have on their site for another one of my projects so we have an alliance for and I want you guys to start thinking along those lines the more members in your team the more opportunities you have when it comes up don't be afraid to go out reach out talk to people on that last job site it got me nowhere talking to the balligan son guys but if I was serious about it and I thought they had dirt in the area I would call their main office and talk to them now we have a site out there called dirt monkey. net and that's for you guys to form your alliances but it depends if you decide you want to use that it depends on you initiating it you starting the ball if you want it text me email me and I'll try to set it up for free for you guys so that you guys can have it in your area and everybody in the area can get on the same page and that is nothing more than what I'm doing right here with these guys reaching out using A system that allows me to interact with my competition so that I can save a lot of money I hope you guys have picked up on just how much I use my competition now it's your turn to think how you can form your own Alliance how you can start to work hand inand with your competition to improve your own bottom line whether we go back to the concept that we started with where 8 nine 10 of you get together and improve your purchasing power or maybe maybe you you borrow your equipment to your competition and in turn down the road you get to borrow a piece of theirs I do that as well lots of different ways it starts with you reaching out now you saw me stop at an actual job site that I've never been to before with my competition um I didn't get anywhere with that but if I didn't make that initi that try I know I wouldn't have been no better off than if I had just driven straight by it didn't make any difference so sometimes it's going to work out sometimes it's not what I found to be the absolute most effective way for you to actually make that connection is to call up the office talk to a project manager let them know who you are and then see if you can take them out to Coffee a 10 15 minute coffee break that's a huge thing that's a first step um then then take it further from there and start to get your foot in the door so that when you when it comes time for you to call on a favor or for them to call on a favor on you you have a level of trust built up that allows you to confidently hand over a set of keys to a piece of equipment or to do whatever is necessary to make sure that you both come out better ahead put it in the comments below what have you guys done I would love to hear from you how do you guys work with your competition what has worked for you whatever you share with us hey it helps each and every one of us out so God bless as always you guys know that I love you guys I hope for the absolute best for each and every one of you that's the point to these videos so please subscribe please share it please post it on Facebook or I don't know whatever you post these things I honestly don't go on in the forums or anything like that because I'm usually working so but if you could share that would be huge and let me know from you I when I hear from you I read everything you guys send me and if I every chance I get I try to answer them so good enough now quit watching videos get back to work love you guys w
