What happens here

This video details how to fix a slow draining and leaking sink by removing and cleaning the P-trap and replacing the pop-up drain assembly. The process involves disassembling the old, corroded pop-up, thoroughly cleaning the vertical drain pipe and P-trap components, installing a new, easy-to-clean push-down pop-up with silicone sealant for a watertight seal, and then reassembling and testing the entire drain system.

My mother-in-law has a very slow draining sink and you can see this thing just starts filling it up like crazy We're gonna see if this is a really easy fix or oh a little bit more complicated I brought my little pistol snake over just in case First thing we're gonna do is we're gonna take out the stopper in the pop-up assembly It could just be right there. We really don't know so come along. Let's get to fixing Getting some towels out of here Yeah, that's busted Check that out the pop-up actually is leaking right there Is that a leak under here for quite some time? I think you get this right here on screwed While holding on to the top of this like so so it doesn't fall down in there You'll be able to just keep unscrewing this pull that out remove this There is nothing on that you can see that that Has some serious build up Oh that Come on there. That's like jacked up. All right So we will see if we can get a new ride here because this one is definitely a little bit shot I don't like dealing with things it looked like that. I think we just take it out put something new in and Call her good. I went to low as I bought this price-fistor style pop-up that just looks down like this And then the whole thing actually pops out to clean it you know It's going to be great. This is going to work out super easy for us I saw some replacement bars there and I probably could have got it to work But let's just get all this nasty out of here order to tell if we're going to snake this drain or not Oh, yeah, that trap. There's not too much in there. That's that's how to clear that one's clear too So our whole problem is going to be right up here in this piece This comes out like this Yeah, there we go. You can see that thing is You can barely you can barely see through that. There's so much hair cloth Really not really have these pliers wrench right here. These are like the best adjustable job wrench ever One more there we go You get that right on there All right, that came off fairly easy There we go Once that's out grab the top of that pop this out Yeah, that's going to be clean We got all that cleaned up top and bottom The stained black with these plastic drains these days. I like to use Silicone. I know this comes with a washer. I use the bottom washer. I Don't use this top washer. I've had leaks with this scenario. I don't like it man I will use this bottom one, but I'm also going to put silicone on that as well. Take this go right around This whole thing just give it a nice bead There is no overflow hole in the sink just gonna take that Set that down right in there Give it a little squish. We'll clean that up in just a second and I like to just go right around the edge of this Okay Fumbled it just a little bit right there on this edge, but it's gonna be fine get this right here on that Get that over hold that down straight and Start turning you get this hand tight maybe take your chair locks You go just a little bit past that and That's going to be good that is nice secure snugged up 30-minute water ready Silicone go right around the edge of that hit it with a little bit of this cleaner When that dries That's gonna be awesome while that's setting up here. We're gonna clean out this we might as well get this looking Top notch, right? So I like to just push that through. I usually Take my channel Perfect. Well, I got that good and stuck now. We'll we're going that in a second So that looks way better to There we go They get it out. I don't know if you'll run Perfect looks way better. Okay Let's test that see what we're looking at there a 30-minute water ready All right, so by the time I get everything else hooked up here cleaned up It's gonna be good to go this rod you can leave in place It's not gonna do anything anymore, but it is gonna remain aesthetically pleasing Pop that in there Now we're rocking and rolling all right. Let's fill and drain this a couple of times That's perfect. We'll let this go We'll test it a few times make sure it works before we put anything back underneath the sink if you had an overflow I like to fill it up and just let it keep flowing out the overflow for like 10 minutes or so and that will tell you as well If anything is leaking There's no overflow on this sink and so we just fill in dump fill in dump fill in dump There we go folks. We got that hooked up It turned out that we didn't have to snake which is always a good thing and the clog was right there quick Easy change out of a pop-up assembly. We put in that new style of push down pop-up Then you can actually remove clear your clog to put it back in I really like these Let me go with you guys think I really hope you folks are enjoying the videos Thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon
