Pour Concrete Slab Foundation
At 0:00 in
Hard to think about using a hot tub when it’s this hot outside, but at least it looks good all year!
What happens here
The initial phase of the project involves preparing the foundation for the hot tub. A rectangular area on the ground is outlined, likely with wooden forms, and reinforced with wire mesh (rebar mat). A ready-mix concrete truck delivers concrete, which is then poured into the prepared area. Workers use shovels and rakes to spread the wet concrete evenly within the forms. Subsequently, a long screed board is used by two individuals to level and smooth the concrete surface, ensuring a perfectly flat and stable base for the hot tub. This step establishes a solid and durable foundation.
Goal: Create a level concrete foundation for the hot tub
Tools and materials
- Concrete Forms — Containing the wet concrete to form the slab shape
- Rakes — Spreading and leveling wet concrete
- Screed Board — Leveling the concrete surface
- Shovels — Spreading and moving wet concrete
- Wire Mesh — Reinforcing the concrete slab to prevent cracking
