What happens here
With the base prepared, begin the actual installation of the brick pavers. Kneel comfortably, ideally using knee pads for protection and comfort, next to the prepared edge. Take individual brick pavers and carefully place them against the existing concrete border, ensuring they are snug and properly aligned with the defined edge. Once each paver is positioned, use a rubber mallet to gently but firmly tap it down into the gravel base. This action seats the paver securely, ensuring it is level with adjacent surfaces and stable. Continue this process, placing each subsequent paver tightly against the previously laid one to create a continuous and even line. The person in the video is seen wearing work gloves for hand protection while performing this repetitive task. Periodically, use a small level to check the level and alignment of the installed pavers, making minor adjustments with the mallet as needed to maintain a professional appearance.
Goal: Securely install the paver units to create a defined and stable edging.
Tools and materials
- Knee Pads — Protecting knees and providing comfort while kneeling during installation
- Rubber Mallet — Tapping and seating the pavers firmly into the base material
- Small Level — Checking the level of individual pavers and sections of the edging
- Work Gloves — Protecting hands from rough materials and abrasion
- Brick Pavers — The primary material for constructing the edging
- Gravel — The compacted sub-base material into which the pavers are seated
