What happens here

Following the site preparation, a stable stone base is laid to support the retaining walls and stairs. The video shows the initial layers of interlocking concrete blocks being meticulously placed on this compacted base. This foundational step is critical for the longevity and stability of the entire structure, preventing settling and movement over time. The blocks are arranged to form both the vertical retaining walls and the horizontal steps of the staircase.

Goal: Establish a stable stone base and begin building the interlocking block walls and stairs.

Tools and materials

  • Levels — Ensuring the stone base and blocks are perfectly horizontal and vertical
  • Plate Compactor Wacker Neuson — Compacting the stone base for maximum stability
  • Rubber Mallet — Adjusting the placement of concrete blocks without damaging them
  • Shovel — Spreading aggregate for the base
  • Crushed Stone Base — Creating a stable, well-draining foundation for the walls and stairs
  • Interlocking Concrete Blocks — Building the retaining walls and steps
