this Christian Idaho painter here on paint live TV today I'm going to be talking about my go-to paints what paints do I use day in and day out as a professional painter if you want to know stay tuned for this video [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Benjamin Moore Aura is absolutely amazing paints and I typically I'm using a satin on exteriors and I'll use a flat on accent thanks but I use it on vinyl siding I've used it on a metal siding I've used it on composite materials I've used it on Hardy plank use it on a lot of different surfaces and it performs absolutely well it performs in the heat it performs in the cool I like the sheen on the satin Sheen like the Finish it's an incredible paint when I'm painting exteriors I only use lifetime warranty Coatings Benjamin Moore Aura is a lifetime warranty coating it's a self priming coating I gotta say it bonds extremely well I've used it on vinyl siding and metal siding that's extremely chalky um brushes extremely well hangs well sprays well I can't say enough about it I did a video review on it if you want to see that full review you can check that out after this video but it is my go-to paint what it does when doing exteriors and that is Benjamin Moore Aurora if I wake up and we're going to be painting outside but there's a possibility of rain showers and I'm a little bit concerned I do really like a product from sherwin's called resilience and resilience is a paint that was created I believe for like the Oregon Market where it rains a lot and what resilience does is it creates a film over the top of the paint in approximately an hour that if it starts raining and you get um Wind and Rain actually hits the side or the siding or whatever you've painted the substrate and it's been beyond an hour it's not going to milk that paint and that could be a big problem if it milks it you're just gonna have to reshoot it because it doesn't go away and if you don't know what milking is it's kind of like the water will hit it it'll eventually evaporate and dry but it'll leave a little spot where that water was I've actually used resilience and um I don't recommend it but I've used it three times in my career where it rained the entire day there was no wind we painted um exteriors on three different occasions the paint's still dried it still performed well it sure Williams resilience it's a lifetime warranty coating and it's a great product that I use if there's rain in the forecast and I'm still going to paint so the next exterior product I want to talk about is um hnc color top used to be just eight called agency solid color stain I think they You Know re-labeled It uh rebranded it now it's called agency color top anytime I'm doing concrete walkways I use it for doing concrete pool decks I think one of the things that's extremely common now is people with brick houses they want their brick painted and I highly recommend you not painting it traditionally and that would be like priming and painting it and especially don't use a traditional paint use a stain I've been using you know hnc products for probably over 20 years they're absolutely amazing products I love them and I use it doing a brick I use it doing Stone and once again I'm concrete I don't recommend using it doing a garage I would use an epoxy it is agency solid color stain it is a stain it absorbs into like um the breaker's stone it doesn't create a top coat which will eventually peel over time doing decks can be a real pain in the neck I use the product you know um Years Ago by flood if you've experimented with um deck products and I have over the years if you don't get the right product when you're rolling out a deck like unlike interior walls it's easy to do a layout and um and be consistent on decks you're covering large surfaces it's hard to do a layout you're always gonna have overlaps if you don't have a good deck product uh your coating is not going to come out even the color is going to look um blotchy wherever you have overlap marks you're going to get just inconsistencies I've been using Super Deck from Sherwin Williams for quite a while it bonds extremely well to um previously coated Dax but also to bare wood so this is going to be a deck product and this is going to be you know something a wood deck that you're going to be walking on so it is Super Deck performs very well and I actually really like the I've been using it for a lot of years that's my go-to for decks deck railing and anything and everything decks the next exterior product I want to talk about is um when it comes to doing fences log homes in anything wood like wood shakes composite looking shapes on on siding but wood I really love a product called Arbor coat and this is a Benjamin Moore product is absolutely amazing I've used a lot of different products over the years Arbor coat covers absolutely amazing it hangs very well it sprays well brushes well doesn't show lock marks it doesn't show roller marks and you can use it and apply in a lot of different ways it doesn't splatter off your roller does it drip off your brush has a great consistency works well in cool weather and hot weather but I can't say enough about it arborco to use it anytime it can be mixed into any different color that you want so you can just break out a fan deck pick a color off of it and so I'm typically talking solid color stains I like doing you know all my fences and solid color stains I don't like using semi-transparency because solid color holds up significantly longer like probably three times longer same with doing log homes same with doing a wood sided homes anytime you have a t11 siding any type of lap siding that's wood I'm going to be using arborico it's absolutely amazing I can't say enough great stuff about it Benjamin Moore makes a lot of good products so I highly recommend you know their top end products so the next product I want to talk about is Rust-Oleum anytime I'm doing a iron fences so fences around pools fences around yards I'm a big water-based fan but this is one time that I'm going to use an oil-based product or industrial enamel is absolutely amazing on an iron fence I'm going to be using its um spraying with an Apollo Precision Pro LED so I can dial in the pattern really small doing iron fences but it sprays well hangs well and it's more durable on an iron fence than anything I've ever used so I can't say enough good things about this product either I've tried using water-based products they don't bond as well don't hold up as long that is my go-to for doing wrought iron fences all right the next exterior product I want to talk about is Montage paint if you've ever used a recycled paste before this is a recycled paint It's actually an upcycle paint I have the opportunity to use several different recycled paints and I'm going to say several of them are really really bad Montage I've used it inside and outside it's an upcycle pay so they take in recycle paint but then they add products to the paint to actually make it better and then they kill any type of mildew in the product so it doesn't have a strong odor if you uh if you have clients or customer that are you know want to use eco-friendly products and be you know eco-friendly when it comes to recycling paints this is a good option for interior and exterior paintings I've painted full exteriors with it and I painted Interiors with it I gotta say it covers extremely well I actually ordered it on Amazon so you can buy it on Amazon um and you can buy it on Walmart.com I did a full video review on it on YouTube so you can check that video out later you can see me spraying it brushing it and rolling it and I was using it on uh full exterior and then a duplex makeover [Music] [Applause] so the products I like to use they are 2K polys and probably one of my go-to's this is a product from Renner right here I have a primer and a top coat and there's a lot of 2K pulleys out there um I like one um from envirolock malazi makes one there's a handful of them out there and you're just gonna have to search you know your area if you want to be able to get them you know from a paint store but Renner is sold online I get it online I've used their 851 and their 851 is absolutely amazing it just gives you this really thick buttery like feel I always catalyze it I always catalyze my 2k polys because when you catalyze it the the coating is going to be a lot more scratch resistant more resistant it's gonna be water resistant way more chemical resistant and then when you catalyze it it will just about bond to anything I I've done a lot of testing with it and is nothing that it hasn't um you know stuck to I've painted on melamine I've painted it over lacquer based Coatings I painted on glass painted on tile and it sticks to everything you know once you catalyze it this is a primer that they use their 643 primer I use the primer but I'm typically doing repaints and I don't have to prime a whole lot because we're dealing with painted surfaces and so we're going to sand and then we're going to put two top coats at Runner 851 it's a it's an absolutely amazing product you can buy it online I purchased it online waterbasefinishes.com it is Runner 2K poly 851 and if you're not confident doing cabinets because you're worried about the coating you know scratching chipping stuff I can't say enough about um a using a 2K poly like glitter 851 [Music] [Applause] uh product I want to talk about is when I'm spraying brushing or rolling interior down so I've had the opportunity to brush an entire um Trim in a house using Benjamin Moore Advance it's uh when it comes to brushing you know and rolling I don't think there's any product out there that levels as well as Benjamin Moore Advance man you almost I've actually brushed cabinet doors with it before and you virtually don't see any brush Strokes out out of it it levels out absolutely amazing events have been more advanced sprays extremely well and I gotta say it bonds extremely well so I'm pretty confident you know of it bonding to just about any product out there when it comes to Interior trim we just liquid degloss and then we're spraying our top coat right over the top of that and there's not very many products out there I'm confident you know sticking to um a repaint on somebody's interior trim with just declaws in it other than Benjamin in more advanced there is another product out there they've got a lot of experience with it's Sherwin-Williams Emerald you're a thing I really like that product a lot too for spraying interior trim but I think Ben's from my testing Benjamin more advanced brushes and rolls and touches up a lot better when it dries out I absolutely love the Finish to it the sheen I'm typically using a semi-voss on um on interior trim but it is Benjamin Moore bounce I've done cabinets with it I even did a vanity makeover if you want to see me spray the product and see how it performs you can check out that video afterwards Benjamin Moore Advance is an absolutely amazing product for interior trim and for people that don't own a sprayer don't know how to operate a sprayer you can still get almost a sprayed on finish by brushing and rolling it doing trim and cabinets all right next a product I want to talk about is this is Benjamin Moore regal select and this one what I'd be called calling my everyday uh go-to interior paint I've had the opportunity to use a lot of paints over the years and um in new construction I use it I don't think they make it anymore um absolutely loved it it was really inexpensive Sherwin Williams made a product called Treasure Valley egg shell and I'm pretty sure it's not manufactured anymore but I don't do new construction so I don't have to worry about that I just do repaints uh Regal select brushes um extremely well covers very well doesn't splattered coupled with you know a roller I really like Premiere woven Pro rollers and the ultra micro roller this product is a great product at a really affordable price and um the finish that it has I absolutely love the finish I love my like almost all the colors I've ever used they all were almost virtually cover in one code but we always two coat the product if I'm using Regal select but it's a great um everyday product I'm really comfortable because I'm usually doing um not inexpensive interior work it's more high-end work and I'm confident using a product like this in high-end homes it is Benjamin Moore regal select I've done a review full review of the product if you wanted you know see it perform an action and hear a lengthy review on it you can check that out after this video all right the final product I want to talk about last but not least is the bear Dynasty and bear Dynasty is probably the best interior paint I've ever used this truly is the only paint I've ever used that uh is one coat and if you closely inspect the walls after um they were painted it's a one coat 100 and it um I absolutely love the finish it was I views it in a matte finish there was virtually no splatter on an extremely dark color uh it's um brushed out well uh rolled out well and no haloing no lap marks it's a great great paint and it does truly and when I say one coat they do do have a um line of colors that are their one coat line of colors I haven't tested the paint you know outside of that line but when they say one coat you know on the one coat color palette it truly was the only paint I've ever used that is one coat it was extremely low odor and I absolutely loved the pain so I used bear Dynasty anytime I'm going to be doing like accent walls so Regal select is my go-to everyday color you know because most colors are just light colors um on walls and stuff bear Dynasty is um pretty expensive compared to Regal you know Salat so I'm going to be using Dynasty anytime I'm doing accent walls accent colors anytime I'm going to be painting a flat wall also because when I'm doing flat walls I want something that's Mar resistant and scuff resistant I tested that it truly is more and scuff resistant and you don't want to paint where somebody if they um touch the walls you know they're gonna leave a handprint on the wall because the oil on their skin I typically use satin on everything I do but when I'm doing accent walls I like to use matte for accent walls Benjamin Moore makes a product called scuffex if you're doing dark dark colors scuffex absolutely is amazing too very similar to Bear Dynasty they'll think when it comes to accent colors you can go wrong by using Dynasty or scuff X or two great paints and this product I've recently reviewed it you can see um me using it in action all right there you have it um this was a little discussion of some of the products that I use my go-to products that I would have in my vehicle doing interior exterior cabinets um uh Stone uh concrete it's not every single product that I use
