Smooth and Clean Excess Caulk

Immediately after applying the caulk, use a clean, damp finger or a specialized caulk smoothing tool to gently smooth the caulk into the holes. This action serves two purposes: it pushes the caulk deeper into the void for a more secure seal and removes any excess material from the surface of the beam, creating a clean, flush, and professional-looking finish. Wipe any excess caulk from your finger or tool onto a clean cloth or paper towel.
