Finally! Some help on the farm! Fencing time!

What happens here

Once a section of fence is under significant tension from the skid steer, two individuals work together to quickly and securely tie the fence wire to the steel posts. One person positions and holds the fence tightly against the post, ensuring the correct 3 to 4-inch ground clearance. The other person uses the cordless drill with the tie-twisting bit to install the wire ties. For these high-tension areas, it is often necessary to tie all 13 horizontal line wires to the post to distribute the load and maintain the fence's integrity. The ties are twisted until very tight, securing the fence firmly to the post against the strong pull of the machinery. After tying, the tension from the skid steer is released.

Goal: Secure the fence wire to the posts after extreme tension has been applied.

Tools and materials

  • Safety Gloves — Protecting hands from sharp wire and tools
  • Tie-Twisting Bit — To securely twist the fence ties around the post and wire
  • Wire Ties — Securing the woven wire fence to the steel posts
