(6,540 characters)Hey guys, it's Josh Stony Ridge farmer and this is farm vlog number [Music] five. So today on the farm we're going to be working on the chicken coupe. We're going to put the trim pieces up. We've got the roof on it. We're going to put some stain on there. We're going to separate our little laying boxes for our baby birds. And we're probably going to move the baby birds in either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, depending on how fast the stain dries. I want it to be pretty. I want it to be right. And I want it to be done before I put the chickens in. So, check it out. All right. So, we've got some measurements here. We're going to go ahead and cut our trim boards and we're going to get them on the coupe. Not a lot of excitement there, but that's what I'm doing right now. Uh we'll take you around and show you some stuff here in a few minutes. All right. [Music] A Been a little while since the last time we talked. We got the chicken coupe door all hung. Uh I've got the uh roof on the coupe now. And what we're doing today is we're separating the nesting boxes and we're putting trim pieces on the corner right here. So check it out. So I got ready to nail my first board up. Put my nailer up. This is pass load nailer. forgot I ran out of gas. So, got to put some gas, some fuel in this thing. Runs off a battery and a little fuel canister. So, you don't have to haul around a uh generator and a um compressor and all that stuff. Can't do anything. We don't have our pass load fuel. So, we got to go get some pass load fuel at the store. So, I'm pretty sure all you guys are jealous of my Cumins now. Uh, my Dodge Ram here. I sure do like it. It's a 2000 model. I picked it up on a uh really good deal. Very well taken care of vehicle. So, we're headed to Lowe's uh to get this pass load quickload fuel. We don't go to Home Depot anymore. And I'll tell you why I don't go to Home Depot anymore. went to Home Depot and I ended up uh trying to get my military veteran discount. I I'm an Air Force veteran and I have veteran on my driver's license. I have a veterans ID card from the county, but I do not receive any veterans benefits from the VA. So, I currently don't receive any uh VA benefits, but I'm still a veteran. So, I had my DD214, which is my discharge papers, my veteran ID stamped on my driver's license, and my veteran card from our county that's issued from the county, and Home Depot still would not give me my 10% discount. I asked him at that time, I said, "Are you sure this is what you want to do? Are you sure that you want to deal with that? If you want that all veterans to know that Home Depot wouldn't give me my veterans discount, a veteran of the United States Air Force because I didn't have the required veterans ID. It's not fair. I'm no less a veteran. I don't want to tell you guys how disappointed I was in Home Depot. I was a big-time Home Depot customer for years and they must have changed their policy. I had the store manager come up and he still would not give me the discount. It was very upsetting. So, if anybody knows uh of any other way to get that veteran discount at Home Depot, please put it in the comments. Uh send me a message, whatever you want to do. Uh because it really really ticked me off that Home Depot would do that to a veteran. So, while I got a second to talk to you guys, I wanted to know, go ahead and leave me some comments as to what else you'd like to see on the farm. Uh, what we're trying to do is start a beef operation, and we're going to have some uh grass-fed poultry. Uh, we're also going to have uh some fresh veggies, garden veggies. We're thinking about going into the micro greens also. So, leave me some comments on what else you'd like to see, what you'd like to see me build, what you would like to see me doing uh here on Stony Ridge Farm. So, just a little feedback from you. I'm asking uh probably up to like 155 subscribers now. I've only I'm only into this like 2 and 1/2 months, maybe 3 months. So, uh what do you want to see? What do you want to hear about? What do you want to know? That's what I want to know. Send me some comments. Throw them at me. Just let me know. I want to talk to you about predictable stupidity. Someone is riding my butt right now and they're in a huge hurry in their minivan with a rebel flag on the front of the license plate so that they can get to the Goodwill and buy a new pair of shoes. Predictable stupidity. So, you might say, Josh, why don't you just hire somebody to build this chicken coupe? Be easier, be cheaper, you could just go to work. Because I like doing this stuff, and I want to show you that I like it. All right. Woo. getting her done. So, we're at the point right now where we're going to make the little slots to go in for the laying boxes. We're going to use these little pieces of scrap wood that I have to make uh slots to slide down uh uh separators for each nesting box. And that way, when I want to clean it out, all I have to do is scrape the whole thing out. Slide the little slots out and scrape it out and put new stuff. So, here's what the nesting boxes look like now. Um, and this is the slot design that I'm coming up with here. And, uh, we'll show you, this is what it looks like before. We'll show you an after picture. So, I ended up wrapping the chicken coop job up right here. All I got to do is, uh, put some sealant on it and we're good. Uh, this is my lid. So, it turned out really nice. Really happy with everything. Uh, I'll show you inside here real quick. So, we'll open her up. And here's our partitions uh for each little nesting box. And uh got it all squared away. That's our chicken coop there. So, we got to have an inside shot here. Uh this is the inside of the coupe. Uh got some nesting boxes here. Uh little individual nesting boxes. And that's the sliding door. And that's it. So, we'll put a roosting pole in here somewhere. and call it good. My next uh project with the coupe is the outside uh eating area for the chickens. So, this is Josh, Stony Ridge Farmer, signing off. Once again, let me know what you guys want to see. What do you want to see me do? What do you want to see on the farm? What are you interested in? Leave me some messages. Use some comments. Give me some thumbs up. Give me some feedback. I'll do stuff that you want to see. We'll have a good time together. All right. Well, come on down to Stony Ridge. Bring your wife. Bring your kids. We're living life pure and sweet. That's the way it's supposed to be. Stony Ridge. Woo.
