hey guys this Josh sty Ridge farmer and this is Farm Vlog number 13 a very unlucky Farm Vlog because it's the day after Super Bowl and I have a not so good feeling and I have the Cure Naked Juice let's get naked woo that was a weak one [Music] woo I think my wife left the cat in last night because it pooped in my mouth look in my eye what do you see pain and sadness so guys I formulated a plan to make my tummy and my body feel much much better I'm going to put nutritious delicious food into my body let me show you what I'm eating here for breakfast on the day after Super Bowl on the day after Super Bowl a good fruit juice smoothie is the delicious thing to have then we move on to some mango slices delicious mango slice then we move on to stir fry and that looks absolutely disgusting and leftover chicken wings I'm actually hoping that the large amount of carbohydrate and oil intake will grease my body and smooth out all this bad feeling I have so that I can go out and work we got to pull some fence post today we got work to do and we can't have a bad feeling okay we cannot feel rotten inside even though we're eating this rotten disgusting food well some of it's kind of disgusting some of the most delicious things you ever put in your mouth look absolutely disgusting but taste delicious right on all right man we're outside now beautiful day the sun is shining it's supposed to be in the upper 50s today which is awesome for February I am a little bit worried right now I don't know where my piggy went I think we really hurt his feelings I put food and water down here but I haven't seen him so let's see if he's buried up in this uh hay piggy piggy piggy hey there you are little friend I've been looking for you oh he's grumpy I've been looking for you you little grumpy Pig poor little fella I've been looking for him I thought he was mad and he just left and left me behind but he didn't he's pretty cool he's always had a little bit of a limp when I made the rest of the pigs into sausage and roast I just couldn't bring myself to hurt Eeyore he's just too sweet of a pig my little friend Eeyore we've been trying catch the pig for 5 days now with no success I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever catch him anybody got any tips any ideas let me know post it in the comments do it do it so I've been getting questions I've been asked several things about chickens about uh well my chickens are getting out I've got a 4ot foot fence and they're flying out what do I do uh my chickens aren't laying eggs today we're going to go down to the chicken coop give you a little tutorial on how to keep your chickens laying through the winter and also how to keep your chickens from flying out of your backyard fence um we're going to open up we're going to get our kitchen shears out so girls and guys if you're dating someone if you're married to someone and you think they need a little bit of organization in their life buy them a label maker buy them a label maker in order to keep my garage and house in order I have a label maker and I use labels on everything so that I know where things are what things are and I always have them labeled by a label maker it's recommended by Stony Ridge farmer woo all right I'm going to trot my chubby butt down here to the the chicken coup and we're going to show you a few things about the chickens if you guys aren't subscribed to the channel now's the time I ask subscribe subliminal message subscribe subscribe you know you like it you might as well shoot shoot don't be scared shoot subcribe it's fun you want to learn something about farming subscribe want be a real man subscribe you're a good-looking woman you better subscribe you have low self-esteem subscribe you have high self-esteem subscribe are you awesome yes subscribe ship you're awesome so I'm going to show you how to keep your chickens laying in the winter time sometimes when you have chickens in the winter time you get a lag time you don't get any eggs you don't get any eggs or you don't get many eggs here is the trick right here boom cayenne pepper take a little sprinkle of cayenne pepper and put it in your waterer and it gives the chickens a warm tummy feeling and they think it's warm outside again and they'll start laying it works it works guys taken right here from the wise old Al Stony Ridge farmer said it works you don't have to use a whole lot of cayenne pepper let me get this straight you don't want to burn your chicken's head off all you want to do stimulate that gut a little bit make them get a warm tummy feeling and they'll start laying eggs again it works so guys this is my chicken his name is Vanilla Ice I like call him Vanilla Ice cuz he's got that little spoofy thing on his head anyhow I think he's a rooster he's a young bird and we have a lot of flight Wings here what you need to know is what's up dude you can fence chickens in a very short fence if you clip their wings so this is a quick tutorial on how to clip your chicken's wing I've got a pair of standard kitchen shears we're going to set vanilla down and we're going to clip the wings so all we're trying to get is the flight Wings here it's very quick very simple very easy if you live in the city and your birds are getting out you need to click their wings because a neighborhood dog could get them this is all about prevention once again the flight feathers are here we're going to snip off the flight feathers just like so now this prevents this chicken from escaping uh a 4ft garden fence and little little vanilla ice is not harmed at all Vanilla Ice is not happy about this situation at all are you look how his head stays still kind of cool so when you do this you want to pay careful attention to the tip of the wing here okay you can feel on the tip where the feathers start and where the meat stops you want to be careful and not cut the tip of your little baby bird's wings cuz that wouldn't be very nice so there's your quick tutorial on how to clip your chicken's Wings to prevent them from getting out of your little short backyard fence save your chicken's lives by keeping them up don't have to worry so much about chickens getting out it's Predators getting to them just a word of advice when using cayenne pepper to stimulate your chickens to lay eggs do not get it on your fingers and touch your eyes or anything down there anything down in this vicinity of your body in the middle area cuz it will burn your crotch cayenne pepper doesn't go with crotch Burns ow so the next mission for the day today is to take down the goat fence the Old Goat fence I'll show you going to talk about temporary fences okay so this looks very permanent but it's actually a temporary fence when you drive your toost in just drive them in to where about that much of the Spade that's on the toost goes into to the ground and I'll show you what that looks like anyhow it makes it very easy to disassemble and take up the post and move them this is the Spade that I'm talking about just drive it down about that far just to hold the post steady so now when I get ready to remove my post all I have to do is unwrap my wire I just shake my post a few times get it loose and lift it up and out takes a lot of workout if you only drive about half of the Spade into the ground still holds a post good no problem but good for removing also we're going to go ahead and take up this fence basically I've got to go all the way around it three times and get all the wire up and we'll put it on this spool and then we'll have it for next time we can reuse all this stuff we reuse we recycle we renew here on Stony Ridge Farm that's right woo well I'm winding this fence up and it's a pain in the butt to do I think it's time for another Stony Ridge farmer invention so if you missed yesterday's video Boop right here it is we uh showed you how to plant bulbs with a spade bit on your drill now we're going to use our drill to wind up our electric fence I hope here goes man say what it worked this is going to be a pain in the butt to uh unravel but it worked I think I got to tweak my invention a little bit but I think it's a nice easy way to take down a uh poly electric fence using the drill that's right we got to use our thinking thing got to use this here got to be thinking around these parts tell me a farmer's dumb see guys my college education was well worth it right there college stuff right there what can I say guys we are not going to let this uh fence thing beat us I've got some uh some ideas and we're going to make another Contraption to wind the fence easier I'll show you what I'm doing what we got here best drill bits guys if you've got drill bits I know you've got crappy ones I know you've got good ones label them best drill bits we're going to use the best drill bits today Parts I've gathered together are a piece of all thread and four washers that I had laying around my adjustable wrench one two three four nuts that I had laying around uh two pieces of scrap wood that I had laying around and we're going to take this old cap that I had laying around I'm going to lay it on here thank you know where I'm going if you don't know where I'm going with this uh then you will in a minute and I think my pencil needs a little Viagra got no lead we're tracing this guy out I'm going to do it on this one and we're going to do it on this one doesn't have to be all that pretty and perfect so we're going to find the center of our Circle you know how we're going to do that we're going to goo there's the center and we're going to goop there's the center right there Circle I know it could be better we're not building a piano I'm put a washer on slide this on another washer and a nut I think you know where I'm going with this guys so guys this is what I came up with this is going to go on the end of the drill right here I've got these both secure and I also cut notches in here on this side and on that side so when I get to the end I can Loop it through tie a little knot and it'll hold in place so let's see how this one works I think this thing speaks for itself it works it works great in the future I may post a link right here or look down at the bottom of my page here I may sell this as a kit on Amazon I think it'd be pretty cool little kit that you could put together yourself you could go out and get all the parts or I could box them all up and send them to you here's our first initial try and biggity bam here is our second try I'm actually going to Unreal this and reel it up onto this roll what a cool little invention guys you might ask why are you doing this I do it because it's fun and it's interesting that's what life's all about this invention kicks butt this one sucks this one kicks butt post me a comment post a comment guys name this thing I'll let you guys name I'll pick somebody out of the group of comments that names this thing for me and uh we'll send you one give me a name for it like a whatchama jogger or haa Jiggy Diggy rad all right let's put our fence up get on to the next thing woo guys I got one more project we want to get done today I'm putting a bat house up this is a bat house from the organization for bat conservation this was donated to me got at the sustainable Homestead Institute so we're going to put it up in the tree here we always like to have bats around the house in the summertime to eat the mosquitoes and hopefully eat all the dirty stink bugs we got a big stink bug problem around here in the South I don't know how in the world they get in the house but they'll find any crack any crevice and get stink bugs in your house and they stink and stink bugs the stink so we picked this tree out right here to put the bat house in we're going to go ahead and get it hung up there basically I'm just taking three screws and screwing it into the tree we're going to use the world's tallest step ladder too so the thought behind this bat house is that we're going to put it probably I think we're about 12 ft up and uh under a little bit of shade so there's some shady limbs right here we'd like to leave those limbs that way the bats have a cool place to sleep in the daytime B house I want to tell you right now ladies don't expect all this stuff out of your husband don't expect them to wear out all these honey DWS like I do I'm abnormal it's not normal okay holy crap dude we finally caught the pig we finally caught him I'll show you holy crap guys I've been working at this for hours and hours and days and days finally we just snuck up on him I snatched him by his back leg walked him right into the cage here I've got it clamped shut so he doesn't escape this time we got it done awesome so I guess we should end on a good note here this is Josh Stony Ridge farmer thank you for watching we got the pig we're going to go put him in with the goats don't forget to subscribe to the channel give me a thumbs up leave me some comments let me know what you want to see all right thank you woo this is real farming guys woo come on down to the Stony Ridge bring your wife bring your kids we living life pure and sweet that's the way it's supposed to be Stony red W guys can't tell you how happy I am that I got this pig so awesome what a butt kicker man what a butt kicker just listen to Eeyore man he's
