That is a sick looking plow. Alex, is that just me or is that just [music] a sick looking plow? >> Yeah, it's pretty sweet. and the light up whips are going to be sweet with the strobe lights and everything. >> Now, since I originally made this video, I got to meet with the entire team that were in production of the original design of this thing and I learned of some eyeopening things on what they did and why. This plow plus frame is 100% galvanized from stem to stern, except of course for the poly blades and some of the other things like the wiring and components of course. Now, it's wide open is 11'8 in. And it's a full box containment plow, meaning both wings will go 90° straight on. The entire plow will articulate, allowing you to control which way your snow goes. But they did some very simple things. They built a plow to outlast the plow truck. And they said that it's actually a problem. And what I mean is they have these plows that are 17 to 20 years old that are go being transferred from one plow truck to another plow truck. Instead of people buying a brand new snow plow, they're just moving the the plow from one truck as the truck wears out. Another thing that I really appreciated about this that I did not like in the beginning, and you may see it in this video, is the wiring harness. They use a trailer wiring harness. And I looked at it and I thought that what is going on with this thing. And I talked to them and I was about to say something to them when they said something to me that made me stop on a dime and go, "Oh." See, most snowplow companies have a proprietary technology. When you clip their wiring harness from the truck to the snowplow, there's this very unique coupler system which locks you, the snowplow operator, into their very unique coupler system that they can then charge you $300 for and will guaranteed at some point go out because all of those wiring harnesses eventually do. What these Arctic guys out of Canada do is they use this trailer wiring harness system. So if your pl if your connectors ever go out, you can just buy one for five, six bucks from wherever your local Menard's, Lowe's, Home Depot, trailer store, anywhere and be back in business. You can carry a couple, three, four of these extra in the cab of your truck if you want. And if a pin goes out, you can just simply pull one pin out, put it back in, and stay in business. There's a lot of little things about this snowplow that separate it from other plows. But let's get back to the first time that I seen it arrive at our yard and we'll show you what it takes to install this thing. This has what I call all the ruggedness you need in all the right places without going too far overboard. Maybe it's just me and I I want Alex's two cents on this as well, but the first time I seen this, I was impressed with the fact that they galvanized it, which means that this entire framework has to go through just an excruciating process of they they beat the heck out of these things to galvanize them. >> What do you think? >> Dip them, right? Don't they dip them. Um they they etch them, they dip them, they coat them. Uh they they've got a special coat. Uh they got a special process. So there is more to galvanizing than meets the eye that most people understand. Now this is what's called a kind of a wide out, right? >> Wide out style. Yeah. >> This is what we call a wide out style. And this is one of Alex's favorites. So styles. So when we had an opportunity to grab this, Alex was the first one to volunteer right out of the gate. And this is the dirt monkey edition. And so do you know what they've upgraded on this one, Alex? >> Yeah. So, they got the LED heated lights. We got the lighted whips. We have the custom engraved, you know, which I think is really cool how it has the orange with the reflective background. Dirt monkey edition plow here. The Canadian and American collaboration between us and them. So, that's uh pretty cool. But >> I think it's poly >> poly that is a poly moboard. I mean, I I think that's what it's technically is called as a poly moboard. So, we're on a galvanized framework with a poly mole board. >> Chain lift. I like the chain lift. >> Chain lift. Everybody likes to the chain lift because if you ever get yourself in a bind, you short chain it. You run into a snow bank, your plow goes up in the air, you chain it, and now your plow is in the air. You're never stuck >> uh out on a job site in the worst possible condition. So, the chain lift, I think, is a huge, huge benefit. I prefer the chain lift over anything else. It also I just feel like myself personally lifts higher. I feel like you get a little more lift out of the chain lift. But that just might be me, you know. Agreed. Absolutely agreed. I like how they have all of the hoses protected. Everything wrapped up >> behind and inside of the framework, including your hoses, including all of your cylinders. Everything's back there. It's a trip edge, not a trip mboard. Something that I do want to point out, your wings are actually poly blade. And then your main cutting edge is steel. And that is a thick steel cutting edge. I hate it when they compromise on them little tiny >> and they cheap out. >> They cheap out on those. They didn't cheap out on those. To me, this always reminded me of something that a guy would put on the front of his truck and feel comfortable going to work day after day, season after season. When you have a poly mole board, you've got to reinforce it. And that's a good thing because the reinforcement helps add critical weight back into the blade because if you have the poly mole board, although the poly sheds snow like it's nobody's business and we've got a built-in deflector that's going to roll that snow over so it's going to keep that moving forward, you need enough weight in the plow itself so that it stays down and does gives you gives you a very clean good scrape. >> Yeah. that doesn't float over hard packs piles and stuff when it's kind of light. You want heavy but not way too heavy, >> right? Yeah. You need that that balance. So, you know, people are like, "Ah, should I go with poly?" We've got plenty of poly blades. We've used poly for many years and never had any issues with poly whatsoever. I've never seen an advantage or a disadvantage to poly over steel that I would point out and go, "Oh, yeah, one is way better than the other." Everybody have heard like talks about poke holes in it or whatever if you hit something hard, but I I use that that Hineker Vplow for years, man. And hit just the same stuff I've hit with everything else. And >> you don't have any holes in your >> No holes in my poly. No, I got a hole in the metal plow that I used in the metal plow >> and it rusted >> and it rust. >> But that's for aerodynamics. >> Yeah, that was cuz I got backed into by fuel mileage. >> Yeah. Yeah. We've we have poked holes in poly blades and they don't rip, they don't tear, they don't shatter, they just have a hold just like a steel would have >> except there's no rust and it stays that way from that point forward. It's just the the lightweight of it. But with this one, you got you have extra reinforcement which helps bring that weight down and helps you with your scrape. plenty. >> Now, this snowplow comes in at just under 950 lbs. And wide open, it's 11'8 in. [music] So, that's a whole lot of snow plow without putting a whole lot of weight on the front of your truck. So, you're not going to be wearing out your front end or worrying about anything like that. Now, Alex is going to be [music] doing the install himself and walking you through some of the things that he finds as he's doing it. But, let's just [music] check this thing out further as he's going. All right, I got the plow mount on there. I'm just getting [music] all the wiring uh plumbed up. I'll zip tie all this stuff up once I get the bumper on there and figure out where I want to put it. But pretty straightforward. Power wire runs through here up to the up to a selenoid to the battery. And then the light [music] harness has some relays on there that plug into the factory 16 pin that comes down, plugs into [music] the plow right here. And then this is the [music] controller side that just goes up. Snuck it along here. connects to the battery with a fuse and then it goes through the factory firewall ran it [music] up under here. Hard to see in the dark. Yeah, ran it up over here. That's where the plug goes, but pretty [music] clean install. Had to tap this red wire into a fuse. Now that everything on that side of things is done, we'll go ahead and start putting this front end back on. You had to pull the headlights, [music] the grill, and the bumper as well, too, to get access to everything, especially to [music] kind of tuck the wires back here. This is a good spot to uh tuck them. So, need to get those headlights out to get to that. All right. So, I got it all installed here. Little different with three connectors. I haven't seen that before. You got power, light, and controller for the new Arctic. Come on in. Let's see how this works. Hooking up needs to come forward just a titch to get her right. >> It might roll back when I put it in park. >> It did roll back when you put it in park. >> It's got this nice hydraulic jack on it. Still got some burrs on the mount from being so new. That jack is thick. >> Yeah, it is really nice. So, >> all right, let's let's see your operate. Well, Alex, who does not professionally install snow plows for a living, took about one afternoon to install this. We teamed up with Arctic out of Canada to produce 20 of these. And the difference is, you see these side wings? They're larger than the typical side wings that they offer on their other containment plows, giving you a greater ability to hold more snow and push more snow at the same time. You can find these in our shop at the Dirt Monkey shop. [snorts] Let's keep watching this thing. >> Marker light there. >> So, the actual marker lights go hand in hand with the blinkers. Yeah, I have plow envy now. I like it. So, we've got the This is the by design, right? >> Yeah. The the lighted whips come so that they sink up with the special for this plow. Yeah. >> And it's an actual true scoop. I like these simple plows. One of my favorite plows of all time was the Heineker C scoop. >> Yeah. >> And that that you couldn't control. You couldn't >> was always in scoop. >> Was always scoop. You always knew you were gathering snow no matter what you had to do. But this is just like that except for better now with more options. A galvanized frame all the way right from that's galvanized including what you put on the truck is galvanized. The mounted too. Yeah, >> the mount is galvanized. It's got a hydraulic jack on it. >> That was the nicest looking mount I've ever seen. like for just a lot of times you just see them sticking way down or you know there's two horns sticking out for like kind of western you can take the shoes off and they look clean but that just looks nice >> and it's got a super solid connection. >> Oh yeah. >> I mean I always learned that when you want to put two boards together, you don't lick and stick them and slap one on top of the other. If you drive a bolt through them, they're going to stay. And that's pretty much all these guys did was drove a bolt a solid pin all the way through. And that hydraulic jack, I've never seen that on anybody else. >> No, it's really nice. >> I've never seen that. That's just makes life simple. >> Never seen it either. Yeah. >> Now all we need is some snow. >> Right. >> Hopefully we get some. And hopefully you guys come over to the shop and check it out inside of the shop cuz we worked with the Arctic team to create something that was very unique but practical for you guys. I mean, we worked a long time with these guys to come up with this. >> Mhm. Yeah, it was a lot of work and a lot of behind the scenes. So, >> Yep. And we're still working with them, >> right? >> We're still giving them feedback, still making improvements to this because you can never rest. you once you have something good, the goal is to always make it better, no matter what it may be. >> So, that's the new Arctic Plow, guys. I hope you guys enjoy it. I hope you guys come check it out. We've got 20 of them available for sale in the shop. But if you guys really like it, you can pre-order and get on the wait list for the next batch that are coming out. But we've only got 20 of them. So check it out fast because once those are gone, there's a wait list to get on to the next shipment. Wait, I want to see that controller. Go for it. Operate that controller. So that's right, left, scoop back, scoop back, rescoop. I think this is both straight out and this is both return to scoop. So pretty simple controller. That's my kind of controller. Looking good on the ground is one thing. And I want to see how it does traveling down the road. Cuz I've had other plows that if you put them in the wrong position will scrape and jar your truck. Let's just watch this thing go down the road. Now, I noticed it has a lower mole board, meaning that the front of my truck is getting more air directly into it, so it's less likely to overheat. And that moleboard also has a very distinct curvature to it. So, I'm anticipating that this is really designed to roll the snow. Instead of being a snow dozer where you just slam into it and it stops you dead cold, this thing is designed to keep rolling that snow ahead of you. What originally attracted me to this plow was the simplicity of its design, the weight, and the strength of the plow itself. Plus the fact that it's 100% galvanized, which means that if this plow was just regular steel, I wouldn't have been as attracted to it. But the fact that they galvanized this entire thing means that that shows me the attention to detail on that part of it is likely transferred to everything. We're talking about how they welded, how they created the structural integrity of every single component. When I look at somebody going the extra mile in one place, it tells me that it's probably likely they didn't stop there, but they continued to go the extra mile in other places that I may or may not have seen. That's what originally attracted me to this plow over 4 years ago, and it's taken 4 years for me to get this thing ready to go in your hands. But it's finally here, you guys. And that is the new Arctic Dirt Monkey plow combo. I'm pretty proud of it and I hope that it finds a good home with you guys and treats you well. That's all I got for you on this video. God bless and go get it.
