What happens here

Once the holes are drilled, it's time to install the in-lite fixtures and manage the wiring. First, ensure the area beneath the paver is clear for wire routing. The low-voltage wire from the in-lite fixture is fished through the newly drilled hole from the top down. The fixture is then carefully seated into the hole in the paver. After the light is in place, the excess wire is tucked neatly underneath or along the side of the paver in the bedding layer (sand or gravel) to ensure it is protected and concealed. A screwdriver can be used to help tuck and manipulate the wire into the bedding. If the paver was removed for drilling, it's now placed back into its original position, often tapped gently with a rubber mallet to ensure it's level with surrounding pavers. The wiring will then be connected to a low-voltage transformer (not shown).

Goal: Securely place in-lite fixtures and manage their wiring

Tools and materials

  • In-Lite Fixture In-Lite — The actual paver light unit to be installed
  • Low-Voltage Wire — To power the in-lite fixture, routed from the light to the main transformer
  • Rubber Mallet — Gently tapping the paver back into place to ensure it's level without damaging the paver
  • Screwdriver — Assisting in tucking the wire into the bedding material
