Do these three things before you paint drywall. Let's get after it. First things first, sand all your mud flat. You can either use this drywall sander or a sanding block for corners. These drywall sponges work great as well. If you have a large room, consider getting this drywall sander. It connects straight to a vacuum and makes quick work of it. And remember, if you can feel it, you're going to see it. Step two, vacuum and wipe. Paint and primer does not like to adhere to a wall with dust on it. >> [snorts] >> I have to get myself a bucket of water and a sanding sponge. Take the sanding sponge and just wipe it down. Just get rid of all that dust. Next up, after you got everything cleaned, is to prime it. And you have to prime new drywall after you're done mudding it. The drywall and the mud are going to soak up the paint differently, so you can't just top coat this. You have to prime it. I suggest a PVA primer to do this. Here's exactly why you prime before you paint. You can tell that the mud took the paint a lot differently than the drywall. I got everything cut in with the brush, top, bottom, corners. Now I'm going to roll it on. Little extra prep work takes more time, but it sure is worth it. We got a nice finish on these walls. I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to hit a second coat here in a couple hours when this one dries. Anyways, I'm going to watch paint dry. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
