Dry Well/Dry Bed Basin Installation
What happens here
After the pit is dug, it must be lined with a geotextile fabric. This fabric is critical because it acts as a barrier, preventing the surrounding native soil (especially clay or fine particles) from migrating into the filter stone (gravel) that will fill the well. Without this separation, the soil and stone would intermix over time, leading to clogging and reducing the well's effectiveness, eventually turning it into a muddy, non-draining pit. The fabric should cover the bottom and all sides of the pit, extending slightly above the intended final grade.
Goal: Prevent soil contamination of the filter stone and maintain long-term drainage efficiency of the dry well.
Tools and materials
