Don't Trust the Bull! Day of Farm Life here in North Carolina
What happens here
The farmer proceeds to the main gate of the new paddock, where the cattle are waiting to enter the fresh grazing area. He opens the gate and encourages the "matriarch" cow, nicknamed "Butthead," to lead the herd. He patiently guides the rest of the cattle, including several new calves, through the open gate. He observes and intervenes when a curious calf attempts to go under the electric fence rather than through the gate, redirecting it back to the proper entry point. He mentions that the pasture contains Three C Lespedeza, a good forage, which the cows will graze down to reduce the need for mowing.
Goal: Successfully transfer the entire herd to the fresh grazing area.
