What happens here

With the door closed (or nearly closed, utilizing the created half-inch gap), apply paint to the exposed door edges using a spray painter. The key technique involves spraying at an angle: first, spray from one direction (e.g., angled from the outside towards the inside edge of the door) and then reverse the angle (e.g., from the inside towards the outside edge).
