Did I say joint sand was the icing on the cake? I meant sod! ☺️

What happens here

The video quickly transitions from a dirt patch to a fully green lawn, representing the sod installation phase. Once the sod arrives, it should be installed immediately, ideally within 24 hours, as it can dry out quickly. Start laying sod strips along a straight edge, such as a driveway or the house foundation. Lay each strip tightly against the previous one, staggering the joints like bricks to prevent erosion and create a seamless look. Use a utility knife or a sod cutter to trim sod pieces to fit around curves, obstacles, or at the edges of the lawn. Avoid leaving any gaps between the sod rolls. After laying a section, walk on the sod as little as possible, but use a lawn roller (partially filled with water) to ensure good contact between the sod and the soil beneath.

Goal: Lay sod rolls evenly and tightly across the prepared area

Tools and materials

  • Lawn Roller — Pressing sod into good contact with the underlying soil to promote rooting
  • Utility Knife — Cutting sod rolls to fit edges, curves, and obstacles
