Critical pressure washing tips. You can paint your own house!

[Music] what do you got going on today chris oh got a pressure washing job i'm working on today i my nozzle it's gone bad i gotta get a new uh rotating nozzle and i don't know like grab a few other things that's it you gonna get back to this today no that's it just put out my account that's with all the dang road construction i have no idea oh my gosh it's loud and annoying have a good one [Music] so i'm getting ready to pressure wash i'm just going to give you you know a few of my tips to you know make pressure washing a little bit faster you know more efficient for you and why i do some of the things i do and first off typically when i power wash or pressure wash i don't like wearing whites because you're typically if you're doing a fence and stuff like that usually there's mud and dirt and you're going to get dirty really fast wearing white so i typically don't wear whites when i'm pressure washing so i don't look so dirty when i'm done that way when i go to the next job i'm not looking all muddy and stuff it just doesn't show up as much on clothes and pants like this to have some form of color here on this job i'm using two tips i typically always use two tips a zero degree straight shot tip and i like one with an orifice that's pretty big that's going to throw out a lot of water up there typically like to use a pressure washer that's 4 000 psi because it's just going to throw up more water you're going to be able to reach up higher places it's going to flood the house a lot faster so the bigger the pressure washer the faster you're going to be pressure washing sometimes having these little nice ones it's easier if you're by yourself because you can throw it in the back of your truck the loud the larger um belt drive 4 000 psi ones i have it takes two guys to get it in and out of a truck or if you're with your trailer you can get out your trailer by yourself but rotating nozzle i get a lot of you know feedback on the rotating nozzle where people are saying you're just going to tear up and damage things um it's easy to teach you know the new guy how to pressure washer with pressure wash with one of these things in literally a few minutes and not do any damage to the house it's just a matter of just staying far away moving yourself up close till you're comfortable to where it's actually agitating the surface and cleaning the surface but not damaging it there's only been a few times ever in my career in 28 years where i've had employees ever damage anything on a house and it was really minor and typically like screens so the the screens on this house are really oxidized so we like to clean the windows we like to clean the strains we stay you know pretty far away until we can get close to them comfortable enough that we're not going to damage them but we are going to clean them so it's a rotating nozzle the difference between this mi-t-m nozzle and some of the cheaper ones that you would get from your do-it-yourself stores this has a filter on it so a lot of places like here this is irrigation water you can get debris in here that could damage you know your a rotating nozzle this has a high impact ceramic ball inside of it so when it starts and it hits it's not going to damage the ceramic ball when you're using your larger pressure washers like 4000 psi pressure washers those do-it-yourself ones that are smaller and black they wear out significantly faster and you can damage them really easy with a 4000 psi pressure washer because they don't have a high impact ceramic ball it's a big difference with these industrial rotating nozzles so if you haven't used one i highly suggest you using one and having a filter on it now one tip when it comes to starting the pressure washer you always want to pull the trigger on the pressure washer to release the pressure on the pressure washer it'll make it a lot easier to pull start it so i'm going to pull the trigger it's going to be easier to pull start it i don't want to have it down on concrete because it's going to start rotating it's going to spin on the concrete and leave a big old clean spot on that on that concrete that's going to be very noticeable where you're at so i'm going to set it on something like this when i get ready to pole started so i'm going to pull the trigger make sure it's on on and then i'm gonna pull start it and we're gonna start doing some pressure washing so a couple final tips one thing when i'm using two tips if i'm using a straight tip like this i typically keep it in my mouth so i don't lose the thing i don't want to set it down because then a lot of times you're not going to find it so i'll just keep it on my mouth so i can switch tips so i'll just keep it right here and that just makes it convenient for not having to dig it out of my pocket another thing is is when you switch tips especially small tips like this after you change them out you don't want to point your gun at anything or anybody when you pull the trigger always point it down because three times in my career i pulled the trigger it launched this tip about 500 yards into space and i couldn't find it and the worst case scenarios that could hit somebody hit a window break a window if you're pointing at a window so we just had actually happened today pulled the trigger and it shot but it shot down on the grass so you want to pull your trigger release your trigger you're in a downward motion not up in the air not at anybody it could be extremely dangerous final tip of the day [Music]
