What happens here

This project details the comprehensive construction of a high-end outdoor living space, including the installation of wood ceiling and wall panels, a built-in couch, a custom recessed TV box, a gas fireplace with stone veneer, and custom outdoor furniture like stools and an arch for hanging chairs. The project emphasizes precise measurements, durable materials, and integrated design elements to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor area. It also touches on unexpected challenges such as wildlife nests and electrical conduit issues.

hey, hey. Woo. Wrapping up some details here. Got pretty much all of our uh our Maximo thermo is pretty much done. I think it's completely done almost. Looks like Ant's finishing up this uh beam here. Looks beautiful. Two fans going in. And we're pretty much wrapped up in this couch. So, what we've got here on our couch is about a 10° uh recline on the back. And we're going to do a 6-in cushion on the bottom and a 4-in cushion as your back rest. It's going to be really, really nice. We've got it at the ideal height with the cushion on there. And the key to a nice couch, you want to have that little bit of a recline. Any chair, you want uh the total angle of the seat and the back to be somewhere between 100° and 105. So, uh, depending on if you have a recline on your seat, you're going to want an additional more recline on your back. So, we've got about 100° here. We've got it flat on the seat, and we've got a 10° recline on the back. And we've got it nice and deep, too. So, that makes it a lot more comfortable. And we have maximized space here. What do you think, Nick? >> Max out. >> Yeah. Woo. Looks beautiful. Love it. Hey, what do we got going on here? >> Some pocket holes in this 2 by material. We're going to join two pieces together. >> Looks nice, right? Nice material. [Music] 2x6 Maximo a use. So, max is our ceiling. But um this is going to be for our recessed TV box thing. So you're gonna see this this edge is going to be exposed uh next to our adornstone. So we wanted a thicker material also. Uh it's just easier to kind of fabricate box with this. It's a little more sturdy and it's just going to look really nice. So the perimeter of our box is going to be this a use and then we'll have uh shelves that are going to be the same. So, we've done is we've ripped it down to 5 in because we're going to make a 10-in box. We're going to join two of these together. Uh, it's going to look really sweet, I think. >> What do you think? Think it's going to look sweet? >> It's going to look nice. >> He sounds confident. >> Putting two pieces of wood together, making them square. It's a lot of work. >> Tricep muscles really popping there. like have like two feet and enough. >> I'd go like 3 ft. >> Well, no. Like I'm going to have a stud and a stud. >> Okay. Oh, behind it. >> Yeah. >> Like with this. What's this clearance? This is going to like Hardy board on this, right? >> On the front of this. >> Yeah. >> Just It's like whatever that piece that it comes with. >> Just going to run a 2x4. I'll keep it back like 2 in. Screw screw. Screw screw. And then I can just pin a two studs. >> Okay. >> And then 10 in back or whatever it needs to be. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. >> Would that be good? Like >> Yeah. >> Where was like right where these are? >> Uh flat. So you have 3 and 1/2 in. >> Yeah. Yeah. That should be good. >> The one the one we're getting it's got like all the little holes. >> Well, yeah. >> So we can put it wherever. Um >> but like do you know how wide it is? >> Uh I think it's 32 in wide. >> Huh. >> 32 I think. All right. Do it on the inside of these. >> Okay. So, this is our this is our box here. Pretty big. So, we've got uh 45 in rough to rough. And our TV is a 75 in TV. It's 66x 38. So, with our 2 by material bottom and top, that's going to bring us down to 42 in. That'll leave 2 in above the TV, below the TV, and then on the side, we're going to have shelves on both sides. So, it's going to look pretty sweet. I think we're going to do uh we're going to stain the Maximo behind it black fluted just cuz we already got a lot of this wood tone going on. So, the perimeter and the shelves will be natural just with a sealer. And the back of it is going to be black fluted. Most of it's going to be covered by the TV, but uh it's going to look sweet. Heat. Heat. [Music] This is a bloody sound. [Music] Nessita. >> Yeah. Yeah, they're in there. >> There's like six of them. >> Oh my goodness. >> Are they're like perfectly in insulation. >> We might have to remove this whole section of wall. >> Take this part of the house. That's their house. >> This pado is the uh talk of the job site. Everybody's invested. I think they're saying you're a crazy bird lady. I am a crazy bird lady. >> You are a crazy bird lady. >> No survival instinct on these things. They're just they're just chilling. Look, he's got poop on his head. >> Oh no. >> I know, buddy. I know. I know. I know. >> Dude, cut it a little cut it a little lower. >> I want to say like how much of this wall can I take out? >> Just Just cut it a tiny bit deeper so you can just scoop up the whole nest. Why is there always an animal rescue on every one of our jobs? It's my favorite part. Critter days are my favorite days. [Music] I know, guys. I'm so sorry. Oh, I can feel one of your little feet touching me. >> I can't get it in there. Good >> job. Come on. I know. I'm sorry, baby. >> Oh, they're adorable. [Music] I know babies. >> All right. All right. All right. >> Don't Aussie Osmo. this box. They're going to just escape. Oh my god, they're so cute. Oh my god, they're so cute. Yeah, you want to give an opinion on on this trim detail? So, like we're talking about, you know, matching up with that with a 5 and 1/2, you know, so the bottoms match up and then go straight across so that this can die into it. We're like basically flush here. Wondering. Throw that up there. I think that's just like too big. >> Like what if we just did we matched >> to the top of the black? >> Rip that to whatever it needs to be. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. The other thing I was thinking is like if we just have if we do this detail first and then do another three and a half and just do it like right at that seam. >> No, >> that was stupid. >> All right. >> I would rip, if anything, I would rip that to the top of the black >> like maybe a quarter inch higher or something. All right. Uh yeah, let's do that. [Music] We're moving right along here. We've got the Dornstone Premier Series obviously going up. Looking really nice. Nice job on that, guys. Beautiful. And it's a little uh it's a little crazy hectic here. We've got we got the siding crew here. They're getting the whole house resided. These guys are doing a great job. Really top-notch stuff. This guy's locked in. Ceiling done. Really getting some of the uh some of the highle stuff here. And something that we're going to do on this job is attempt to make furniture. So, um, I'm going to I'm going to give you a little preview of a prototype I got here. Built this stool out of Decorator's dark slate. And this was like my third prototype after some adjustments. And now, uh, I'm going to start working on messing with a table. We have a little bit of, you know, a cramped, not a cramped space, but we're limited on our space in here with a table and how big we wanted to make the bar. So, right here, we want to have a table going in, dining table, and obviously, we have this building couch. We've got the bar. We wanted to make that as big as possible. So, this kind of furniture thing all started with not being able to find a table that was really going to be like the ideal size for this. So everything that we found existing was a little bit too wide and we want to make it a little bit skinnier so we could just squeak out a little bit more room on that bar and not have it too cramped. So we'll see how this goes. Um should be fairly simple, but uh I don't know. So I'm going to I'm going to try it out. We're going to try building a table and see how it looks. And then potentially we're going to be building all the stools, all the chairs, but we'll get to that a little bit later. We'll see how table goes first. [Music] We got our fireplace here just delivered. So, you can see we've got a lot of our Dornstone uh wrapped up obviously premier series here and we've got this insert which just looks amazing. So, now that we have the fireplace here, we can slide this into place. We are going to need to do small access panel here. Removable piece of veneer, a little hole behind it. So, uh, we can get the gas valve and there's an outlet back there to plug the unit into. So, we'll need access for that. But, uh, now we can finish up this whole wall and be looking good. [Music] All right. Well, we got some excavation happening here. finishing the rest of uh the patio excavation. We we're hoping to to really have most of this done already, but we're kind of working around siding crew. They've got a huge dumpster here, so we're just kind of doing what we can. So, that's why we're piling up the dirt right here right now. Um and hopefully they'll be done in another day or so. That dumpster will be out of here and we can get our stone delivery. But we're just kind of doing what we can. Jose, that's good for now. >> And this is old, too. >> This is old, too. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, I want to get started on uh setting these posts here. We got this dug out enough for now. Um we'll do the rest. Hopefully, the dumpster will be out of here soon and we can get that out of here. But what I want to do is pull a string line off of this all the way down. Uh, we can come. Yeah. If we want to pull it, I'd say the center of our post is going to be at like 2 and 1/2 ft off of this wall. Yeah. So, set up a a string down there going all the way down. Measure off 2 and 1/2 ft at the wall there. Make sure we're 2 and 1/2 ft here. That's going to be our line for the two posts. So, that'll get us square. And then we'll measure out how far and we'll mark out the location. And it's only two posts right here. We're going to have a uh arch for two hanging chairs. And we're going to mark this out. We're going to get those posts set and put the beam in and everything. And and that'll be able to actually be completely finished. So that's something probably would have done later, but we're kind of working around what we can do here. And we're going to get this done and keep it moving. Keep everybody busy. How you feeling today, Nick? It's >> pretty good. It's nice and cool out. >> It is nice and cool out. We're like pretty much out of rebar, aren't we? >> I I looked briefly yesterday. I didn't see any. >> The Phillies. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. >> They were like, "Oh, let's take the lead by a lot." >> And then No, let's let's let's go right. Let's make it a game again. >> Every time I kept changing a channel cuz I was getting a blowout, I turn back. I'm like, >> what is going on down this way? >> Yeah. I would set your set your rebar all the way at the deck and then uh set that 2 and 1/2 ft off >> and then set like a stake over here >> and then just uh you know that that's going to be at 30 in and then you know move this one depending on uh the measurement right at the edge just that rebar set the rebar down where Jose is >> 30 in off and then all we need to do is is pull this one over here And uh and we'll check for the measurement right at the corner. And once they're both at 30, we're good. of our patio. All right. We've got our hole locations figured out. We marked the center of this portion of the patio. So, we've got about a 4ft bed and then about a 4ft kind of like walkway strip. It's going to be a different paver. And then we're transitioning into like the fire pit area, which is 16 by 16. So, marked out our center point as well. And then we found the center point uh on this string line. And then measured off of that for our arch. We're doing uh 10 ft apart cuz it's going to be for two chairs. So, uh don't want it too big, not too small either. And uh we'll get these posts set and then we'll wrap them how we typically do. We'll show you how we do it. Probably need to go back a little bit. We're going to be behind this line with uh >> what the point. >> Um wait, no. What do we do? 30 in. No, you're right. Actually, yeah, it'll be in front of it. Yeah. >> Yeah. Hello. >> Should say something like, "Hi, welcome to my upholstery shop." >> Hello. Welcome to my >> how you greet people in your business. >> Hello and welcome to my custom cushion shop. It's not an upholstery shop yet because so far we've just cut some foam, but eventually we're going to make some custom cushion covers to go on top of this custom cutout foam piece. >> Beautiful. >> Come look. Looks like you're making like an arch or a circle. >> It's pretty nice. >> Pretty nice. >> If you're thinking, "Wow, this is too short." You would be right. Sean didn't get long enough. But that's okay. We're going to >> It's as long as it came. That's the longest anyone sells it. I checked like four different sites. This site had the longest lengths. The longest lengths. You just look rude because no one can see me doing this video. >> It's all right. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> It's gonna be dope. >> It's gonna be dope. >> What color is it going to be? >> Purple. >> Purple. >> No. Uh silver. >> It's like called cast silver. It's kind of like a gray. You see her brother does uh hot rod upholstery. >> Unbelievable. Oh yeah. It's crazy. >> Really? >> He's like worldrenowned. [Applause] Did >> I understand it? >> Well, the foam is getting wrapped and then they're getting covered. >> The foam is getting wrapped in dacron, which is like a softer top material cuz this is incredibly rigid. So, you want a little bit of, you know, a little bit of give to it. So, it has like a comfy couch feel. And then that'll get wrapped in Sunrella canvas to make it pretty. Awesome. You guys ever seen the Phillies? >> Phillies. >> You ever seen the Phillies? >> Yes, we have. >> See the game last night? Bryce Harper, two home runs. >> Did he really? >> Yep. Both over 440 ft. He's probably juicing. >> Fireplace is all set. And we're starting on our Dornstone across the front of the fireplace going into our uh our seat here. How we are we still measuring good off that line? Okay. Beautiful. Perfect. All right. So, that was one thing we needed to be aware of was where this stops over here and make sure that when we come up, we're going to be meeting that at the right spot. So, the other interesting thing, it's going to be our access here. I'll show you a little bit more about this when uh we get all the pieces ready and it's dry, but uh it's going to be pretty sweet. So, we have in here, see it's a little dark. We got an outlet here for our uh fireplace and we've got our our gas shut off is going to be right here. So, uh we're going to have a hidden access panel and I think it's going to be pretty sweet. Here's a little little sample of what's going to be happening there. >> Magnets, baby. [Music] Oh yeah. Oh yeah. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. patio base going in today. Got a couple couple things going on here. We've got uh this junction box is for the pool lights. came up here was sitting like kind of right in the middle of where our patio is going to go. So, uh we're having our electrician move that over just a little bit so it's inside of our garden bed. But what he found out when I started taking it apart was >> see that water coming out whole pipe is full of water. that pipe. Uh obviously the lights are leaking. So the whole thing is full of pool water and uh could be very dangerous. So um we are going to get a pool company out here to replace the lights in the pool uh before we seal this up because we're going to make this a little bit lower. And if this gets below the level of the pool water, it's going to touch all these wire connections, not be good. Possibly electrify the water. So, uh, >> we're going to make sure that that's taken care of before we proceed on that, but it's out of our way enough and, uh, we should be good to proceed. That's about it for this video. In the next one, we're going to be getting to the PA patio, and I'm only going to give you a little sample, but you can see we got a lot of stuff going on here. So, make sure you hit subscribe. You're not going to want to miss the next one. Until next time, this has been Premier Outdoor Living.
