Demonstrate Stone Consolidation through Compaction

compaction = consolidation. #paverpatio #pavers #hardscape
What happens here
To simulate compaction, the narrator places a small pile of 3/4-inch limestone on a solid, flat concrete block. He then uses his hand to press down on the pile, mimicking the action of a plate compactor. He explains that compaction does not make the individual stones themselves more compact; rather, it causes them to 'turn and consolidate' into the void spaces previously observed. This action interlocks the stones, removing the air gaps and creating a much denser and more stable layer, which is essential for preventing settling and ensuring the longevity of any overlying structure, such as a patio or walkway.
Goal: Visually understand how compaction eliminates void space and consolidates crushed stone.
