Classic NASCAR Stock Cars Take Road Atlanta: Racing Hard and Mistakes Were Made

What happens here

Scott Lovett, identified as a Porsche Experience Center Driving Instructor and NASCAR Stock Car Owner, introduces his #94 Bill Elliott McDonald's sponsored car. He explains that it's actually a 1996 Andy Houston car that was later repainted and re-liveried to resemble Bill Elliott's famous car after Bill Elliott moved to Evernham Dodge in 2001. Lovett details that it features a genuine Ronnie Hopkins chassis and a Ford C3 engine, which produces around 700 horsepower. He emphasizes the car's authenticity as a road course vehicle and its balanced performance, differentiating it from many converted oval cars. He also highlights modifications like a custom LaJoie seat to fit his size, mentioning plans to clean up the interior plumbing in the offseason.

Goal: Understand the history and specifications of Scott Lovett's #94 vintage stock car.

one so want me just kind of talk about it yeah like I me it's a obviously it looks like a Bill Elliott car is it a real Bill Elliot car it's actually not so this car was run I think last in 2000 2001 it was an Andy Houston car okay and when the team unloaded all of their gear for for that that era um a guy that we know local to Atlanta who's a racer and a collector he picked it up and it basically sat for 15 or 16 years through the Great Vine heard that this car was in the Atlanta area and I started talking to the guy and it's a really cool story but it took me months and months and months of basically having beers with this guy every Friday to convince him to sell it and and even when we went to go exchanged the money he was still kind of like I don't know but the cool part about it is it's a legit Ronnie Hopkins chassis road course car um so he when he took possession of the car he had it kind of restored cuz you buy him as rollers um so he had an Ernie ellot uh C3 Ford motor put in it um and then had the car repainted and reliver for Bill but truthfully it's um it's a 96 car that Andy ran to be honest it's as genuine as it can be for vintage in a lot of these guys are putting r7s and fr9 and stuff and this is a it's a Ford C3 motor only makes about 700 only makes about 700 horse um and this I mean this just a good set of shocks that I'm you know out here trying to keep up but it's it's a blast man I've driven a lot of race cars and even compared to that Tony Stewart car this thing actually feels like a proper race car in the track even on a road course it does race car things it behaves like a race car it's it's not like some of these other cars when they convert them they're they left side heavy and they push we don't balance well when group 8 was small and there were only 10 or 15 cars I could Podium but now now with all 40 cars here I'm like midback lry but it's still it's still a good time that's a real good looking car thank you you got a lejoy seat yeah the um the seat that was in there was for a a race car driver Siz person and I'm not race car driver Siz so yeah I feel that I got a ljo seat too yeah the ljy stuff's really good and it's affordable he does a nice job with it we went up to uh North Carolina got fitted for it and but one thing I would like to do is kind of clean up inside I think it like it was some of the plumbing was done halfhazard Le the lines and the the venting and that kind of stuff so over the offseason try to clean that up…
