blam we're live here we go yeah what's today's live show about today's live show is about one tool that if you're gonna be a painter you got to have one of these a paintbrush so today is choosing the right paint brush Suzy what paint brush you know what handle did you choose what bristles you should use and I mean it can be just extremely confusing because there's so many different choices out there confusing yeah there's so many different brush manufacturers out there there's so many different types of bristles out there there's just all kinds of crazy stuff well and I think there's things like you want to be wise with the money that you have using to buy your supplies and so there's some things that you could go cheap on and there's other things that you really should not go cheap it up and probably paintbrushes is one of those things yeah but it's for some projects you probably can't go cheap so you find out about that we got Pete Brubaker from Kansas haven't seen him he's jumped on Jimmy Tootles on she's always here fireline somebody new from Laura Ryan's yard rad yeah that's super rad Lind length land ham is ditto on Kansas I haven't seen that name so kind of cause he's got some new names yeah and really did wait a long time for it I saw somebody got a shirt of ours and they posted it they were wearing that and I haven't reposted it but if you get a shirt or hat or another thing is spotlighting painters and so when we're in Hawaii you talked to a couple painters and you know their first interview so we're just learning how to do this but you know we do want to start touring and visiting other painters and talking to them and learning from them yeah ruff Gonzalez 707 Raphael Oregon man I've seen all kinds of new paint before that's so cool so tell your you're here so I got to spend it with my youngest daughter after and she just got accepted to Washington State University Wazzu our time with her is short yeah I had a good time with her so we were shopping and stuff is really fun scary yeah we spent some money so anyways I was really blessed my my sister gave me a little health scare so I got to go visit her down in soundless Vista California so really blessed that I was able to spend time with her and had a great visit with her and so when we were there we went to Pismo Beach and we're walking along the beach because we don't have the beach in Idaho and it was really beautiful there and so I had to buy I don't know if you guys have been to that candy shop check these out man I just I could hold it scorpion and mealy worm I couldn't help it so so I had to buy a couple to give away and so we thought tonight's giveaway we're gonna give away a hat with one of them we can have we could give away a pate life hat with alright then with choosing you know the right paint brush and you know what bristles you should choose what handles you should choose you know all that kind of stuff so you were talking about your visit your kids oh out paint brushes and this is a new paint brush company out there we go we got something to mail I never say that so we got them renovation kits Oh wolf brush sent me I tested out we've been testing out some new brushes they sent us and it's a brand new company that's a brand new company just started manufacturing paint supplies and a manufacturing Russian they've been doing it for years for themselves oh so they guess so I didn't know that yes in the paint industry for years and now they have just branched off doing it for themselves so Singh comes with there's three brushes and it's got a four inch brush it's got a two and a half inch angled sash brush and it's got a three inch flat brush and it's got one of the roller handle and a fan so it's what is this and says all-in-one kits ideal for large projects and room renovations so they sent us they sent us two of these yeah so we're gonna give away ones tonight we've been testing them out and we like them and so we're gonna have you tested one out I haven't fired so I really take it over this is really cool so I'm like I like like good marketing I like good packaging and stuff like that they did a really good job packaging it I like it I really like the logo super cool logos that's a really good job so I like it so we're gonna be giving away six paint brushes oh they asked us what one's your favorite brush and that's that your favorite my favorite style brush had the handle I like um like the glide handles I like an angled angled bristle brush I always called it angled sash brush and I like a three inch width and the overall brush if I had only one brush to choose from that's what I would choose and so they send me some brushes before but I test it out and then they say you have these brushes and they send me a case of um and me and all my guys sort of testing them out and I started asking them you know what their opinions are about them so we're gonna be posting that on we use it on this week posting stuff on Instagram and Facebook and Pinterest and LinkedIn yeah and we're gonna be giving away these six brushes on some point in time you gotta follow us on Instagram and on Facebook if you want to win is she's some McCall now so these are cycling stickers and that I didn't know I do ride bikes race bikes so kind of cool bigger I like these old stickers so he gave away enough that I could have you know one myself and that I can give some away so I'm gonna be doing a sticker giveaway where I give away other people stickers all at once and it's gonna be pretty cool so I'm trying to gather stickers if you have stickers please send me some stickers at least two so I can have one myself and I can get one away so we have some good giveaways tonight and so we really want to ask you what are you looking for when you buy a paintbrush like what's important to you we want to hear Chris is gonna share his opinion John is on the chat he's gonna share his opinion of what he looks for but I know for me I'm really curious because I do go to the paint store and there's a wall of paintbrushes and it's overwhelming I mean you have a huge price range they all look different I walk in there it's overwhelming Wow I've been painting for a long time yeah so let's let's try and help people so that they're not so overwhelmed so that they could say you know this is the project I'm doing should I buy a cheap brush should I buy expensive brush why let's do that will help them out and so I went in today into the paint store yeah and something I've never done before and I've just waiting started buying one of everything oh and brushes I've never used but I wanted to get them out look at them and stuff and and it's kind of cool these are you doing but so yeah I got a whole bunch of brushes now and let's talk about um some of the things what the first thing I'm going to talk about is the handles and some people might wonder you what's the deal with all these handles we got a rat tail handle we've got a rat tail oh do you see you know what yeah it looks like a rat tail we've got at my sister's house we've got a glide handle we've got a and they they like the names of the handles and they're kind of similar across the board with some other painting company's name on their own names this is a Sprague handle right here I mean so I mean what the heck what's the debt why why these all these weird handles and stuff here's another type handle right here and then here's another handle right here I mean I could just keep going on there's another handle right here I'm interested I hear is one that the handle actually unscrews so let's talk about the handles and yeah there's another handle oh yeah so the handle really is all it is is just what fits your hand what's comfortable in your hand what you like and because we as painters were painting with these things like all day long just all the time I mean they're always in our hands and so you you try to find one that just fits your hand well and one it's kind of you know fits in there if you got really big hands you know maybe you want one that's a little bit shorter and fatter you know skinnier down here on the side or you know if you have small hands I don't know if females I don't know what that feels you know like to use its thinner than this one the good stuff and so I started out when I first started painting my career you know I just I started messing around with the different handles and I come to like this handle the bass right here this is a pioneer but were there any were there any paint brushes that you like used and you're like I cannot use that like it you know no I would say I mean I could take any one of these brushes and paint all day long with there and so I mean I can paint with this rat tail all day long but it's really like skinny so it moves around it's really hard for me to get like a nice grip on it um Lynne just said um Lynne I have small hands most brushes are like holding a bat a baseball bats spiders Oh Mike room Roman - okay sorry glide is the key for me rats hurt after a while so so that's it that's a glide so he says glide and that's a rat right there and so you know I would agree like if the one person said to have small hands small hands the rat tail is good for small hands if you have small hands here this is interesting look at this so on that handle do you know why they make the handle no so that's we're getting into like if you're trying to paint inside it of say a cupboard inside of a cabinet and you're trying to you know brush the inside this is too wide and it's going banging the one side so you have a little stub nose handle right there so yeah that's what Brooke used to paint with so so handles here are really just a matter of preference here's something that kind of went like over the top of the handle now check this out so this is this brush is from rolling dog yeah right here and it has these I don't you can see outside that on both sides and I was looking at that and I'm like you know what that and it's in it's actually like rough neural that's what you'd call and like this so you can grab it between two fingers in brush like that but you were saying like that if you were okay what do they call them a Kentucky yes and I like do I would be like I would I love another no baby I got one of those is yours you're saying hi John you were saying um that pinky is stuck on their their nom de Voort shorties they calm shorties okay but you were saying that he says he thought this is a nice handle but then you're saying like it could get filled with paint yes kind of interesting so it's all that that knurling right there and stuff but it's really fine um my guys would destroy this thing in a day I mean you would even feel that like after a day but that's my guys that's not everybody else's guys it's the bristles feel really nice but some right there a snub nose because when I hold the brush I mean I'm not holding it by the handle I'm holding it like I have my hands on the barrel too and then just you know like a conductor yeah so what is your recommendation your recommendation is go in and pick some up and like hold them in your hand and seems comfortable you know that you know that'll work but the problem is is you really need to use take and get one of each style and use it all day long and see what it feels like because you're not gonna be really gonna feel like right here this feels fine for me right here but they have to working right says all day long it's not gonna work for me it's gonna be sliding in my hand and out of my hand and stuff and by the end of the day I'll know that this isn't for me I've already figured it out it took me one day to figure out what style works best for me you know these ones if you're painting and you're doing likes I'm back rushing having a fatter handle like this when you're back brushing when somebody's spraying and you're doing the back brushing that works good so um you gotta try it out and see what works and so and I think just even looking at it like you may go buy a brush and it might be an extensive brush and after painting with it for a day it doesn't work for you and should you I mean I would say that's an investment in you learning about what brushes best for you and don't torture yourself using a brush that's not working for you yeah I mean you want to use something that really works for you that is enjoyable yeah that helps you come complete what you're doing yeah they told ya um you know Tessie you doesn't it all zip it like some people if you're just painting one bedroom and some it's not that big a deal but most people I mean the brush is like if you purchased this brush right here if you're just a do-it-yourselfer this brush would last you the rest of your life Wow no I mean so it's it's an investment it's a lifetime investment for us we go through them like crazy because we're just painting mass quantities of houses and stuff and doing tunnel so carpal tunnel that's a good question so like from from painting from painting do you ever do you have any problems with your wrists or whatever I do have problems with my wrists spraying I'm not not brushing and stuff but all the years of spraying I'm kind of becoming a wimp now because Jon does all the spraying and then every now and then I got to go out and spray and I just don't have strong forearms no more than kind of would be well but using the keyboard is a huge carpal tunnel that's all kinds of problems too yeah but the the brushing I've never had a problem brushing and stuff I mean just the movements and stuff it's really light and so if you don't put a lot of pressure and stuff and when I hold the brush in my hand I'm not like gripping the brush it's interesting I've got some videos on doing cut ends and stuff and how to do cut ends and in brushing and stuff and you're really just holding I hold a brush you know in my hand just really lightly it's kind of just like just sitting in there it's not I'm not gripping it it's just you know kind of finesse yeah okay so we're gonna give away two stickers right now we'll leave this one and it'll do this one that's what's
