For very tall or overgrown grass, it's recommended to start with a higher cutting setting to avoid bogging down the engine or excessively stressing the blades. The Toro Z-Master 4000 HDX offers a wide range of cutting heights, from 1.5 inches up to 5.5 inches, which can be precisely selected using a convenient thumb switch located directly on the control panel, or by adjusting a lever with predefined settings. Set the deck to a higher position (e.g., 4 to 5 inches) for the initial pass over dense areas.
