Building The FANCIEST Floating Shelves EVER!

What happens here

To integrate the LED lighting, perform an electrical rough-in. First, mark the location for an in-wall light switch and cut a hole in the drywall. Use a fish tape to run 18-gauge, 2-wire LED light wire from an existing power outlet up through the wall to the shelves. Wire the new light switch (dimmer) by pigg-backing off the existing outlet's power source, making sure to follow all local electrical codes and safety guidelines.

Goal: Install an in-wall dimmer switch by tapping into an existing outlet's power and running LED wires through the wall using a fish tape.

next we're going to consider where we're going to put the switch I want to be considerate that maybe someday this will become let's say a guest bedroom so if the bed is facing here the backboard you want to have a switch relatively closer to the bed maybe above the nightstand so you can dim the lights turn them off however you want so what do we need to do piggyback off of this outlet for power for the switch here the dimmer then run all of our LED lighting on top now you're trying to figure out how tall an average bed is so I can coordinate to that foreign [Music] a light switch for something new you need to consider where the power for it is going to come off so Outlets like this are a great way to piggyback off of draw a hot line off of and then you can wire in your switch I'm very excited by this tool I just bought it today I finally got myself a steel fish tape this will help me actually feed all these cables all the way through these walls all while all this other time I just use some steel wire that can bending so we'll see how much easier this will get it'll be easier if I just fed the line first and then try to catch this thing I shouldn't read like a user manual on this they don't have any user manual Center okay 10 out of 10. I like it 10 out of 10. the reason why it's rigid so you wherever you position this that's the plane it'll be on so it doesn't get to be all squirrely that way slick very very slick [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] all right let's see if we got power nothing lights we got power because we're going to be piggybacking three different strips of LEDs this stuff is going to go behind the wall this is 18 2 18 gauge two wire LED light wire this is the same stuff they use for kitchen under cabinet lighting so what I'm going to do is I'm going to fish it through here and then have another one coming from there to there and then we'll connect each LED and help you glorious
