BIG White Oak hits the Sawmill...precision cuts for the first time today!

What happens here

Start the Kohler Command Pro engine of the Wood-Mizer sawmill. Identify the existing boards on the mill, noting that they are 'live edge' boards with bark on one side and a straight edge on the other. The goal is to 'edge' these boards, meaning to cut off the barky edges to create clean, straight lumber. Set the sawmill to cut 1-inch thick slices. Carefully position the boards against the log deck dogs, ensuring they are stable. Engage the saw blade and slowly feed the sawhead through the board, trimming off the bark edge. Repeat this process for all boards, flipping them as needed to trim both bark edges. Ensure to handle the boards carefully as thinner, unedged boards are less stable. These boards are red oak and are being milled to a thickness of 5/4 inches (1.25 inches) and a width of 10 inches.

Goal: Remove bark edges to create clean, straight lumber.
