Aura interior paint review. Excellent paint for bedroom walls.

this chris idaho painter here on paint life tv today i'm going to be talking about a product from benjamin moore this is aura their premium interior paint is this a paint you should be spending your hard earned money on in this video i'm going to let you know so stay tuned [Applause] [Music] all right so a few of the key points you know about um benjamin moore auras that i want to touch on too that are on the technical data sheet it is a 100 acrylic paint um it's uh the solid content is higher than any uh solid content of any wall paint i've ever used in my career um the solids is for uh 47.3 percent which is extremely high all right so just touching on you know the the square feet per gallon it gets 350 to 400 square feet per gallon and um the cost of the paint it's a premium paint so it you know it's going to be more expensive than you know a non-premium paint but the square feet per gallon is where you'll really notice the cost difference is not any more expensive than a non-premium paint because you're just going to get a lot more coverage out of it and not only you're going to get more coverage out of the paint so the gallon's going to go farther it's just going to save you time and time is money so you know when you think about the time being wasted using cheaper paints and the frustration having to do multiple coats to cover using a premium paint like aura probably in the inn when you consider the money spent on multiple gallons of a non-premium paint and the time spent you know uh repainting those walls and putting multiple coats you're eventually gonna even yourself out or even those cheaper paints may end up in the end actually costing you more money let alone the frustration that goes along with using low quality paints that splatter don't cover they halo leave lap marks and all those frustrations that go along with those paints from my standpoint a professional standpoint there's nothing worse than paints that don't touch up very well especially if you're using vibrate colors so if you're using vibrant reds vibrant blues even dark colors like black but just a lot of colors in general if you have a paint that doesn't touch up well you know down the road if you put a picture on the wall and there's a hole in the wall you got to touch up or even if you have light spots that you have to touch up after you're completed the project or somebody scratches the wall you want to paint where you can touch up right in the middle of the wall that is not going to show and low quality paints have really bad touch-up capabilities what i noticed with auras i did some tests i painted a wall uh one of the colors was a vibrant color went back to the touch up right in the middle of the wall you couldn't even tell you know where i did that touch up at all from any angle it's got exceptional touch-up qualities and that's very important you know from a do-it-yourself standpoint and a professional standpoint and especially if you're doing like um i did one wall that was kind of a navy blue and it's really easy with low quality paints to get you know what we call haloing or banding or hat bending around the wall or lap marks on the wall with low quality paints that don't have good catch-up capabilities but the paint or a premium paint it performed absolutely amazing and touched up extremely well all right so now i'm just going to get into just about a little bit of my experience using the paint and my observations i um it it's a premium paint i used uh benjamin moore reviewed benjamin moore or exterior and hands down the best exterior paint i've ever used now does aura interior fit in that same category um some of the things i i want a good quality paint that's not going to splatter not going to make a mess we typically always mask use drop cloths but there's nothing worse than just paints splattering especially if you're painting overhead and it's splattered in your face i wouldn't say it's a no splatter paint i coupled it with a woven pro 3 8 inch roller and i'm just a little bit of splatter so i'd say the splatter ability is is really good um i wouldn't say it's the best i've ever seen but it actually had what i would just say low splatter and perform were performed really well in that category the next thing was the coverability absolutely amazing comfortability it's really rare that i ever see any paints that will cover in one coat one of the colors that i rolled it literally covered in one cloak one coat when i inspected the wall really costly as a professional painter i probably could have got away as a do-it-yourselfer you definitely could have got away with one coat on the wall as a professional painter i always to coat my walls and two coats just going to give a better overall look and feel to the wall but i was absolutely amazed in the coverage of the paint so i did touch on dry time when it comes to you know the ability of a paint to actually make me as a professional painter money it dried extremely fast probably faster than any paint i've ever used how to recode time you know extremely fast eventually you know the the product dried you know what was the look of the paint i think just across the board a bunch of the benjamin moore paints i've looked they just have a just a high quality premium feel premium look to the color and the sheen when they're eventually dried i just absolutely love this um the matte finish that i painted on a couple accent walls something i would highly recommend the finish the matte finish when doing any type of um you know especially accent walls but it can be used for an entire house so the paint itself is it does say on the can um and in the technical data sheet that it is a self priming paint i'm not a big fan of self priming paints um i've said this you know over and over in the past i got videos about it um you know i if a substrate needs a primer i'm going to use a primer benjamin moore makes some amazing primers i did a review one of their primers that um i really like the product um and if i'm going to need a primer i'm going to prime first and then i'm going to use benjamin moore benjamin morris aura over the top of that but it is classified as a self-priming product and um and so if you want to use it as a pain primer one you can another thing about the paint it is mildew resistant so it's got additives in it that create a mildew resistant coating and that does come into play if you're in high moisture areas if you live on the coast if you just don't have good ventilation in a home and especially a bathroom where you can get a mildew growing on the surface growing on the paint this could be a great product for um doing a bathroom and so i i don't think you have to rely on using you know high sheens like gloss sheens or semi-gloss jeans to resist you know mildew if you're in these high moisture areas you're using aura's mat you could use that right in the bathroom due to all the technology in the paint and the the paint's ability to resist the mildew so now we're down to the end of the video i've talked a lot about you know benjamin moore's or his pain some of my experience you've probably seen some of the b-roll of me painting with it uh where do i rank or rate this video i do a ladder test i got a ladder behind me you know is it a bottom-run product is it top-running product um i'm gonna rate this product is it something that you should spend yo your hard-earned money on so it's the ladder test we're gonna get our ladder right here this is our old rickety ladder so we'd like to say you know um those bad quality cakes out there they always fall down on the bottom rung down here we classify our top rung right here is this because osha will not let us stand on the very top of the ladder so um you know that's rules and regulations so where does aura interior premium paint fall on my ladder test is this something that i would recommend you spend you know your hard earned money on it's not a bottom tiered product for sure it's a premium paint it's not a middle of the run this is definitely a top rung product i would highly recommend auras interior paint like i highly recommended their exterior paint it's an amazing product it's probably one of the best interior paints that i've ever used and i'm very confident using their matchings and a lot of different scenarios on a lot of different services so should you spend your hard earned money on hora payne i absolutely believe you should it's well worth the money if you've ever used this product before if
