that I've ever used and one of the things that I like this caulking gun for is the trigger pull ratio it's like got a certain of the ratio of it it's a lot easel region to so then I mean it's easier to pull then the the normal caulking gun so I'm getting old I got 10 nice I got tennis elbow actually they don't play tennis I don't know how that neither does the workout because you work out it's so Luis Lopez hello again is that dripless so it actually is dripless so it's a coffee gun and I like him so much we put them on our stores so that's not like I can't go out and paint now so I've been working on finding you know new tools and new products that I like that I've had in my vehicles that I think are top yo top-of-the-line in their category the best-in-class is what I guess you've been recently your liking premiere Montauk I had just bought a Montauk from you so whoa with that pack so let me talk about that and so because some of you probably have solved my video I just came out with recently the eight-hour compliation video and compilation violation so you're gonna see me recommend stuff you know nine years ago and then things evolve and change you know over time from one black spray tips as I learned is the painter because I was a self-taught painter I never worked for anybody and different work for a journeyman I'm one thing I learned is brushes so ie bald from a two and a half inch brush I kept having people tell me you know I use a three inch brush use a three inch brush you can paint so much faster I'm like the two and a half is just fine we're just fine for me it's like why would I change it doesn't make any sense so I will see so okay I'm still alive so alive so the three inch brush I finally just from people just telling me and tell me you know to use it I used it and I was amazing you can paint fast I mean it was very simple it's like a bigger brush so um getting back to Purdy brushes so I like in promote you know premier brushes now because they really like them I went to the factory I saw being handmade in New York in the USA so I trusted their handmade I saw the quality and to me this is just my personal opinion and I've done surveys on my platform and 70% of the people I surveyed and there were over 2,000 people answered my survey whether perdy brushes has the quality of their brushes dropped since they were purchased by Sherman Williams and 70% of the people believed that the quality has significantly dropped since their purchase by sure limbs and that's what I felt I felt like I saw a significant drop in quality and I'm not happy with the quality of the brushes anymore so I don't use them so that's why so that was the change so if your that was um that was I'm not sure if he I think he wasn't he I didn't so I just didn't airless sprayer I only spray with HVLP sprayer now and water-based coatings industrial coatings you know with an ACOD spare and which that is I now sale sell HVLP spray equipment on my home store now do any painting or anything you did that we made a good choice getting the 440 I saw I just shot a video comparing with Titan 440 I with a Titan that I think you're probably talking to tight the impact because the tight impact in that Titan forked in I compared the three of them and you know and did a review well them so that's coming up pretty soon too so stay tuned for that I really like the Titan 410 for a small sprayer it's kind of a throwback to the Titan 440 I which doesn't have like some of the bells and whistles that the impact has on it and so yeah it's just less less likely to break down so I just I like simple stripped-down basic sprayers in the Titan 410 has the same lower in as the Titan Titan 440 I which is no longer available anymore so if you don't if you haven't seen marketing video and I changed the stuff on my truck the back window I changed it because some people what it used to say on it it doesn't same thing cuz some people just didn't understand my marketing philosophy and what I wrote on the back of my windows some people were offended by it and I actually listened to what they had to say I do listen to you guys and and a lot of this stuff I don't get that you don't get what was written on the back of my window but then I get that it offended people and so so I just changed I don't know what you're talking about can you elaborate so the back of my window said um it's in why hire a painter when we can teach you on YouTube and so you know I have videos on YouTube teaching people but my whole philosophy was and the reason one of the reasons main reasons why I started my youtube channel is to help out my prospective clients or previous clients do their own painting and that sounds really weird cuz ain't I just taken and working myself out of a job and I never looked at it like that but the way I always looked at it is if I help them if I offer them something of value that's if they couldn't do it and this is what you have to understand more likely they're not gonna be able to do it because I can teach you how to cut in assuming like I got eight videos how to do it but it takes miles and miles of practice time behind the brush to actually do it as good as we do it they're eventually gonna turn to the professional painter to say I can't do this it's still too frustrating who are they going to turn to they're gonna turn to the person that offered them values so if you're doing a newsletter offering them value not just giving out discounts you can and off rate them discounts and stuff then you know you're you're they're more likely gonna turn to you and then ask you you know for the help that they need because you offered him something value so my the back of my window was just doing in that marketing campaign is offering them YouTube videos to complete the project if they can't complete it they're gonna go oh my gosh this guy lives right here on Boise I'm gonna call him and so that's what it was all about and some people didn't understand it didn't get it they get hear me say that and so hey I changed it but the whole offering value yesterday yesterday we had to go to Home Depot when we were practicing safe distance and they were only allowing so many people and at a time but you ran into somebody that has watched your videos and he was in the middle of a painting project and he said would you be willing to do the job and that that just reinforces that you had offered him value you offered to help him him and his wife were doing this project and she wasn't having fun and so they were looking to hire Chris because that's who's helped him in the past yeah so you know offering value is really important in the midst of all this craziness yeah I was I was there in Home Depot walking by and some guy turns his head does a double take he's like you're that Idaho painter guy aren't you and I was like yeah and he's like I was like hey hopefully the videos have helped you and he's like oh my gosh they really have I just bought a cabin he said they painted the whole entire bottom of their cabin and my videos and stuff in and he said you know what it's um we're done painting and we just want to hire it out and would you be willing to do it and I you know I recommended them to who I used John and I sold my painting company to I said you know give John a call because the projects too big for me to do so I recommended them to call Oh being a painting so I you know we just because of the world you live away something yeah okay I was just doing it because of our workload we've changed how we're doing things and we've decided we need to come back on YouTube and Facebook and do lives because we want to be a part of this community that's struggling like every and and help with ideas and you know a lot of painters have given us ideas and we're putting them back out there and we want to really share and empower each other and so coming back on here I'm seeing Norman Cockburn and he's like an old friend like we've met him twice and yeah yes and he's been painting for 50 years and he said he's never stopped he's still learning so Norman you are all the way in Scotland but but we need to tip savers so Richard says Richard Delgado hello Kris if you think back to when you started what advice would you give to someone who wants to start painting and so that's um give a couple pieces of advice and we did I just talked about one of the key things and early in my career it's offering value and I started you know a long long time ago with my YouTube channel and in YouTube channel and newsletter is a way of offering value and people they appreciate that more than anything I can't stress it enough and from the day I started my painting company over 18 years ago when email wasn't really that big I was gathering an email address from every single customer that I did a bit for it you have to gather an email address because that's how you market back to those people that you've worked for or you want to work for and so email address is extremely important actively there's somebody that just came to our Academy recently and he told me he's never got an email address from anybody and I was absolutely shocked even if you're not going to do anything with it now gather the email address and even if you don't email your bids get the email address state if I the bid can I get your email address and just gather it because you never know when you'll change your mind I have an email list over 30,000 emails strong now so you know when you didn't have very many you would send them out to when we were slow to customers and we'd always get jobs so even if you don't get 30,000 yeah you know I mean you could you could have a hundred a hundred is a hundred people to market to degree mind your business here's another thing that is I think is critical and we eventually built a business that was built on almost getting a majority of our paint jobs by referral and every time you would answer the phone you would ask the person how do you hear about our company and they would say oh I heard from so-and-so you would say if we if we already knew who they were we'd say oh thank you we're gonna send them a thank-you letter we always sent a thank-you letter to everybody that referred us with a Starbucks gift certificate for $10 or $15 and I cannot stress to you enough when that person receives something of value that they never thought that they would get cuz we don't we didn't tell people we did that when they would receive that Starbucks gift card they were so blown away that we remembered them that we acknowledged them that we gave them something of value that those people would refer you over and over and every time my goal was to when when anybody that we worked for when they were sitting in the lunchroom wherever they worked and if somebody to tears down said you know I gotta get my Hoss pain and I wanted that person to go oh my gosh these people you need to hire these people these guys are amazing and so I wanted to give amazing customer service that was number one…
