We actually don't need to plane this because what we're using here is the ProWood TrueFrame joist. The nice thing about this is it's factory planed on both sides to a consistent 9 in. Not only is it a consistent 9 in every time, it's also kiln-dried after treatment, so it's a lot lighter and it's not going to twist and turn as much as it dries out like normal pressure treated so what we used here, no planing necessary, flat as can be. Wow.
