Andy Hillenburg's ARCA Race Shop History: Talladega Nights Dennit Racing (Fast Track Racing)

What happens here

Andy introduces the car used in the Bollywood movie 'Ta Ra Rum Pum,' driven by an Indian actor who was also a good sport. He describes how the car was modified for filming, including a unique right-hand drive setup where the actual driver sits in the right-rear corner of the car, controlling a dummy steering wheel on the left, while cameras are mounted inside to capture the actor's face. The floorboard was removed to allow the cameraman to film the actor's feet, showing their interaction with pedals. Andy also discusses the car used in a Mountain Dew commercial featuring Chase Elliott, which was famously filmed flying through the air. He details how he himself couldn't do the jump due to a broken back but showed the stunt driver how to do it safely. He points out a dent on the car where it landed.

Goal: Illustrate specialized car modifications for unique filming angles and stunt work

of the car is back tucked away over here what's that steering linkage look like I want to see how you modify everything backwards everything's backwards so on all the stock bars the steering box is over here and it runs and there you can see where the steering column actually comes out if they were driving the car but it's cut but the the whole piece is there so it appears as the actor is driving and all the uh the real steering stuff comes in over here on the passenger side of the car are the master cylinders inside the car the the yes the um they're back there on the floor pen you can see those oh yeah so that's actually the the real driver of the car right there and we used this oh two or three times and it's actually from the movie Tarra rum from Bollywood is how this one's painted up and the Indian actor that drove the car actually was a good sport and he sat in there in a lot of the scenes and um we would we would drive the car and through traffic and this that and the other and he was doing when his scenes were he was right on the on top of the steering wheel and making it all happen so yeah another another movie car I didn't realize pretty cool that people on the complete opposite side of the world would have interest in this stuff like it's just cool it was the um India makes more movies a year than any other country and this movie was ranked number seven at their box office that year that's it was a very successful movie did they do any of the filming with your stuff over there it was all our stuff no we did everything at uh Rockingham Speedway actually okay um all and a little bit at Concord Motorsports Park too I'm interested in with the Pontiac over here that these are kind of the a rare thing to see the the Grand Prix built that for vintage car and we originally were restoring it because it was believed to have been Tony Stewart's pole car from the Brickyard when he sat on the pole he did not win the race that year but he sat on the pole and we were rebuilding it back to Tony Stewart and we got 90% done and realized that it wasn't Tony's pole car so it is 90% done and it will be in a vintage race at some point so this car over here if we can work our way to it this is what we call our seat buck and we have filmed oh gosh 30 car 30 commercials with this car over here um it's a partial car and it's made just for filming um watch your step through here ni so this car here we can put on rotisseries and actually spin it all the way around the…
