What happens here

This critical step, while not shown in the video, is essential for any gas fire pit. Connect the gas supply line (natural gas or propane, depending on the burner) to the inlet of the brass burner. This typically involves using appropriate gas-rated flexible or rigid piping and fittings. Once the connection is tightened, perform a thorough leak test. Apply a gas leak detection solution (a mixture of soap and water) to all connections. Open the gas supply valve and observe for bubbles, which indicate a gas leak. If bubbles appear, tighten the connections further or re-apply pipe sealant until no bubbles are present. Never operate the fire pit with a gas leak.

Goal: Establish a safe and secure gas supply to the burner, free of leaks.

Tools and materials

  • Adjustable Wrench Craftsman — For tightening gas fittings securely
  • Gas Leak Detector Spray DiversiTech — To identify gas leaks by observing bubbles
  • Gas Shut-off Valve Apollo — To control gas flow to the fire pit for safety and maintenance
  • Gas Supply Line — Delivers gas from the source to the burner
  • Pipe Dope — To ensure sealed, threaded gas connections
  • Natural Gas or Propane N/A — The fuel source for the fire pit
