Install Hinges and Test the Access Panel
At 1:41 in
A sneaky little deckorators access door? Of course! We never skip this step!!
What happens here
Once the panel section is cut from the deck siding, remove the track guide and any temporary screws. Attach hinges to one side of the newly cut panel and the corresponding section of the main deck structure. This creates a functional, hinged access door. Carefully install the hinges, ensuring they are aligned for smooth operation. If desired, install a latch or handle to secure the panel when closed. Finally, test the access panel by opening and closing it, verifying that it operates smoothly and provides clear entry to the under-deck area, as demonstrated by the person emerging from the newly created opening.
Goal: Complete the access panel installation and confirm its functionality.
