A little tiered patio walkway to ease the transition down to the pool deck?? Don't mind if I do!!
What happens here
Using a measuring tape, mark the exact location and width for the linear drainage trench. Carefully excavate a trench in the gravel bedding layer to the required depth and width using a hand shovel. Ensure the trench has a slight slope (grade) to allow for proper water flow towards a designated outlet. Use a screed tool, guided by concrete blocks placed along the edges, to level the bottom of the trench, preparing it for the drainage channels.
Goal: Create a precisely sized and graded trench for the drainage system.
Tools and materials
- Concrete Blocks — Serving as guides to maintain the trench's width and depth during screeding
- Hand Shovel — Excavating the gravel bedding to create the trench
- Level — Verifying the grade and levelness of the trench bottom
- Measuring Tape — Accurately marking the dimensions of the trench
- Screed Tool — Leveling and compacting the bottom of the trench
- Marking Chalk/Paint — Marking the trench outline on the gravel
