23 tons of fencing materials on farm...I only dropped?? Our life savings gone!

What happens here

Once the truck is in position, the farmer uses his John Deere tractor, equipped with a front-end loader and pallet forks, to begin unloading the bundles of steel fence posts. Each bundle weighs between 950 to 1200 lbs, making it a taxing operation for the tractor. He emphasizes the difficulty of manipulating the heavy, slippery metal bundles, as they tend to slide on the forks, and the challenge of precise placement. He also highlights the need to unload evenly from both sides of the trailer to prevent the load from tipping over due to imbalance. The farmer mentions dropping several bundles due to the difficulty and the tractor not being designed as a precision material-moving machine like a forklift. The bundles are carefully placed on the gravel driveway.

Goal: Safely transfer bundles of steel fence posts from the truck to the ground.

Tools and materials

  • Flatbed Trailer Great Dane — Transporting the fence materials
  • John Deere Tractor John Deere — Lifting and moving heavy bundles of fence posts and wire
  • Landscape Rake — Attached to the rear of the tractor for counterweight (and general landscaping tasks)
  • Steel Fence Posts — The primary material for the fence structure

[Music] [Applause] okay so what you guys need to know is that my pallet forks I cannot see from the operator station here on the truck so I've painted the tips of these yellow so I don't trip over them or hurt myself or anything like that and it also milks the truck driver to guide me in to pick up these pallets this is all of our pencil on all of our posts for the whole farm project right here this is a huge huge amount of material and they came out from Kentucky with this load monstrous load of material we got out the driveway no problem let's get around look so we'll have to get the specs for you on the weight of each bundle but it's a tax on the farm tractor man it is heavy heavy heavy heavy so I'm having to just kind of pick away and get a little bit at a time I can only pick two of these bundles up at a time so I'm just picking away and trying not to roll it off the backside of the trailer here we've got plenty of space I'm really glad we did what we did when we built the driveway so that we could get big trucks in here so what I have to worry about while I'm unloading is the weight of the trailer so I can't just pull it all off one side if I do that it's liable to put too much weight on one side of the trailer and it could actually tilt the load and it all could dump off the side of him we sure don't want that so these are heavy this is a big job a big tax on the tractor it's going to take me an hour and 25 minutes probably to unload that we're into it about an hour already when they take two hours first bundle down farm tractor is not a materials moving machine frustrating very frustrating for me here sometimes things don't go your way things aren't going my way right now [Music] [Applause] [Music]
