$10 FIX! How to DIY Repair/Replace Torn/Worn Motorcycle or ATV Seat

What happens here

Once all the staples are removed, the old vinyl cover can be easily peeled away from the foam base. Inspect the foam for any damage, such as excessive wear or mildew. The creator noted his foam was slightly moist but not damaged, suggesting it would be fine once aired out. Carefully separate the old cover from the foam. Make note of how the foam base curls or rolls over the edges of the plastic seat pan, as this is how the new cover will need to be positioned for a proper fit. Then, use the old cover as a template to measure and cut the new vinyl material. Lay the old cover on top of the new vinyl, and using scissors or a box cutter, cut the new material, leaving a generous margin of several inches around all sides. It's always better to cut more than you need, as excess can be trimmed later, but additional material cannot be added.

Goal: Prepare the foam base and cut the new vinyl material to size.
