The final step is to install the decorative trim and the light bulb. Most trims are mounted with either coil springs or squeezeable rod springs. If your trim has rod springs, squeeze both ends of each spring and insert them into their assigned holes on the inside of the can, then push the trim upward until it is snug against the ceiling. If your trim uses coil springs, hook each spring into its assigned hole inside the can, then pull each spring outwards and hook it onto the trim. Carefully guide the trim into position until it's flush with the ceiling. Lastly, insert the light bulb into the socket. The type and maximum wattage of the bulb you need are typically marked on the inside of the trim or the can itself. Ensure you use the correct bulb type to prevent fire hazards and ensure optimal lighting performance.
