After applying the soapy water, take the other clean rag (or a different, clean section of the same rag if using one). Dip it into the bowl of plain warm water and wring it out thoroughly. Similar to the soapy application, press this clean, damp rag onto the area where you applied the soap. This helps to rinse out the soap and the lifted stain particles from the carpet. Repeat this rinsing process a couple of times to ensure all soap residue is removed.
