Take one carpet tread and flip it over to expose the underside. Unroll the double-sided carpet tape (such as X-Fasten brand) and carefully apply two parallel strips along the long edges of the tread's underside. As you apply, peel off the protective backing from the tape. Use a utility knife (like a DeWalt brand) to cleanly cut the tape once each strip is fully applied.
