Carpet Stair Treads

Carefully count every individual stair step you plan to cover with a new tread. Be sure to include any landings in your total. This simple count ensures you order the perfect number of treads for your project—no more, no less.

For an accurate depth measurement, place the end of your tape measure on the very front edge of the step—what we call the 'nosing'—and measure straight back to where the tread meets the vertical board, or 'riser'. This is a crucial step for a perfect fit that protects your wood.

Measure the total width of a single stair from the left edge to the right edge. This will likely be the longest measurement and helps you determine how our treads will be centered to best showcase your beautiful staircase.

The 'reveal' is the design term for the amount of wood left visible on either side of your carpet tread. This is a personal style choice! Many homeowners prefer a reveal of a half-inch to several inches. Knowing your preferred reveal helps you choose the perfect tread width to elevate your staircase with a polished, professional look.
