Cabinet Hinge Replacement

Carefully inspect the existing cabinet hinge. Determine if it's an overlay hinge (door sits on top of the cabinet frame), inset hinge (door sits within the cabinet frame), or a concealed hinge (hidden when the door is closed). Look for any manufacturer logos, part numbers, or unique features that can help identify the exact replacement. This is crucial for ensuring compatibility and proper fit.

Open the cabinet door slightly. Support the weight of the door with one hand, or have an assistant help. Using a screwdriver, carefully remove the screws that attach the hinge to the cabinet frame and the door. Once all screws are removed, gently pull the door away from the cabinet.

With the cabinet door removed, locate the screws securing the old hinge to the cabinet frame. Use the appropriate screwdriver to remove these screws. Keep the screws in a safe place, as you may need to reuse them if new ones are not provided with the replacement hinge.

Wipe down the area on the cabinet frame where the old hinge was attached. Remove any dust, debris, or old adhesive. A clean, smooth surface will ensure the new hinge mounts securely and operates correctly.

Align the new cabinet hinge with the pre-drilled holes on the cabinet frame. Insert the provided screws (or the old ones if they are in good condition and compatible) and tighten them with a screwdriver until the hinge is firmly attached to the frame. Ensure the hinge is straight and level before fully tightening.

Carefully lift the cabinet door and align the hinge components with the corresponding parts on the door. Insert the screws to attach the door to the hinge. You may need to adjust the door slightly to ensure it hangs straight and closes properly before fully tightening all screws.

Gently open and close the cabinet door several times. Check for smooth operation, proper alignment with the cabinet frame, and ensure there are no squeaks or sticking points. Make any necessary minor adjustments to the hinge screws to fine-tune the door's position and movement.
